David is an accomplished Human Resources Professional, bringing many years of hands-on experience specializing in Start-Ups, Hi-Growth, Turbulent and Transitioning Organizations. A relatively new permanent resident of Palm Springs, David is becoming very active in several organizations here in the greater Coachella Valley. Originally from Ohio, David’s intentions were to becom...e an English teacher. He finished college at Bowling Green State University with a BA in Interpersonal & Public Communications, and a double minor in Mass Media and Popular Culture. Starting out in a Food & Beverage management position with a global chain in New Orleans, he moved onward and upward at a number of Hospitality organizations (Radisson, Hilton, Marriott, and InterContinental Hotels). After being promoted and transferred across the country, he landed in Hollywood, California. It was there that he was able to combine his love of TV and Films while working in HR for a number of mass media companies (Warner Bros., DIRECTV, 20th Century Fox/News Corporation, E! Entertainment Television/NBCUniversal Cable, The Walt Disney Company). Most recently, he was the ninth executive hired at ReelzChannel, LLC (the largest cable network All About Movies! launch in television history) that grew to a staff of over 500 in their first year on the air! He is now the owner/operator of aHRc (Anderson Human Resources Consulting). Part-Time, Not-For-Profit Organization that he is associated with include: The Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM) and SoCal Professionals in Human Resources Association (PIHRA), Reconciled United Methodist Churches (UMC) of Palm Springs, Hollywood, and West Hollywood (various leadership roles), Co-chair of various events/committees supporting youth development with GLAAD, The Point Foundation, and The Palm Springs LGBT Center, Elected-governing board member of the Organized Neighborhoods of Palm Springs (ONE-PS), Volunteer positions with Stonewall Gardens Assisted Living, UMC of Palm Springs, Coachella Valley LGBT Leadership Council, and The Palm Springs Cultural Center. Finally, the Mayor recently appointed David as a Board Member to Palm Springs’ Weekly (Thursdays) VillageFest Commission. His passion for the Theatrical Arts goes back to community shows in Cincinnati and Toledo, high school and college performances in various musicals and comedies, and managing a working cantina with an intimate performance space on the BGSU campus.

Wrapping up Women's History Month with a feature on the one and only Sarah Kane. Kane was an English playwright, screenwriter, and theatre director. Her plays explore darker themes of love, sexual desire, pain, and death. She is widely recognized as one of the most radical and influential writers of the past 20 years. She died by suicide in 1999, after leaving behind a body of work unique in its poetic intensity, pared-down language, and exploration of the theatrical form. Her most prominent plays include Blasted, Phaedra's Love, Crave, Cleansed, and Psychosis.

Green Room is thrilled to announce our newest board member, the talented Jacqueline Clare Merritt! Raised in the Coachella Valley, Clare has been with GRTC from its very beginnings as an actor, designer, and teacher. In addition to performing roles such as Golde in Fiddler on the Roof, Nancy in Oliver!, and Frederick in The Pirates of Penzance, Clare went on to attend high school at Orange County School of the Arts in the Creative Writing Conservatory where they focuse...d on experimental playwriting, creative non-fiction, and workshopping performance. In March 2021, Clare graduated cum laude with two Bachelors Degrees in Theatre Arts and Intensive Psychology where they studied stage management, dramaturgy, scenic design, directing, and advocacy/resistance theatre. They’ve worked alongside various notable Bay Area artists and theatrical researchers such as Kinan Valdez, Amy Ginther, Dr. Michael Chemers, Dr. Patty Gallagher, and Danny Scheie, and has had the pleasure to work on several successful UCSC productions such as American Night (dir. Kinan Valdez) and The Most Popular Girls on Stage (dir. Kudra Wagner). In addition to their love of theatre, Clare is a devoted psychological researcher hoping to earn a PhD following their residency at Green Room Theatre Company. At UCSC, Clare studied advanced qualitative research methods, social justice psychology, gender and sexuality, trauma and neurodivergency, and childhood development. Their research focuses on crafting Brave Spaces in classrooms and rehearsal spaces using documented trauma-informed organizational methods and open space learning, inspired at large by the Sanford Meisner technique and Augusto Boals’ Theatre of the Oppressed. In addition to their role at GRTC, Clare is the current Production Manager for Barn Rat Theatre Company- an all-inclusive theatre collective born in the age of COVID-19. Clare is honored to be back at Green Room Theatre Company as a Board Member, and they are incredibly excited to give back to the community that gave them the tools to succeed.
