What does the GGI data mean? What is Solar Access (SA)? Solar Access is the ratio of actual sun / max possible sun for any point on your roof. 1 is the best! Values from .6 to 1 are typically considered good for solar but .8 and up is really good. GGI calculates the SA for many points on your roof and averages them together to calculate the monthly and annual solar access. Every solar installer uses this similar method when then go up on your roof to measure the shade wit...h a hand held tool. We have already performed this for every building in our coverage area, saving everyone time and money. What is Surface Orientation Factor (SOF)? The Surface Orientation Factor is a calculated value based on your location on earth and the tilt and azimuth of each part of the roof. SOF is the ratio of the actual tilt and azimuth / the best possible tilt and azimuth to collect the most sun each year. The value of 1 is the best and values of .6 to .1 are typically good for solar.
