40 Days of Prayer Saturday, October 24th, 2020 Day 30 - Military Lord, help us to seek Your face with all our heart. Help us to hear from You and to pray Your will for those whom we love and are far away. We trust You, Father, and ask You to reveal to us how we can pray for our soldiers and their families. We confess our utter dependence upon You as we pray for all branches of the military. Keep us mindful of Your good and perfect will, even in the days that seem so imperfect.... In Jesus’ name. 40 Days of Prayer Friday, October 23rd, 2020 Day 29 - Government Lord, teach us to be submissive to Your will rather than be filled with criticism for leaders who do not share our values. We resist the cynical spirit that wants to creep in, and we choose to trust in Your sovereignty over all the situations that trouble us. Help us to pray earnestly for our president and leaders who govern, that they will humble themselves and seek Your guidance so that everything we do will s...hine the light of Your glory in a darkened world. Help us to remember to show proper respect to all people and to pray for them earnestly, serving as a witness of Your love. In Jesus’ name. At every level of our American society enormous pressure is being put on elected leaders and members of our judicial system to consider proposed legislation and various court cases related to marriage and family. Help us to love everyone involved in thi...s cultural battle and to refrain from the ugly rhetoric and inappropriate jokes that so often discredit our voices. And may You work powerfully in our own marriages so we don’t lose the moral authority to defend marriage. In Jesus’ name. 40 Days of Prayer Wednesday, October 21th, 2020 Day 27-Media Lord, it is easy to make the entertainment world and today’s media the scapegoat for the destruction of godly values and morality and decency in our nation. But the truth is that we have allowed all aspects of the media to enter our homes regardless of content. We too often watch all sorts of movies that we know have content that we should not watch, and we often fail to control what is seen and heard in our homes. ...While there is much to blame the media about, there is much in our own lives that is inexcusable. We ask You to show us the areas of our life and areas of our family’s life where we are allowing unhealthy influences and messages. We pray that You will surround our children with so much encouragement that no feelings of inadequacy, fear, or uncertainty will keep them f...rom becoming the joyful, creative people You desire them to be. We pray that You will make classrooms into places where there is delight in learning instead of drudgery or dread. We pray for wisdom and discernment to reign in the hearts of both parents and teachers to safeguard the hearts and minds of our children. In Jesus’ name. We thank you that it's Your good pleasure to bless and prosper our leaders and the employees. We ask You to bless all businesses to such an extent that they will be used to meet the needs of the owners, their employees, their customers, and to be a blessing to their community. Help us to be ...salt and light where we work, serving others as You direct us to. Help us to love those with whom we work, and may Your name be exalted through all that we say and do. May Your presence flood our workplace, so that all who come there will recognize a difference, and may those who don't know You be drawn to You by the testimony of the Christians in those places. 40 Days of Prayer Sunday, October 18th, 2020 Day 24-Families Dear Lord, we ask You to show wives what it means to respect and love and submit to their husbands. Help them to see that it doesn’t mean to obey whatever they’re told or to become a doormat. Help them to bless and encourage and to enter fully into the joy of helping their husbands. May marriages be blessed with mutual respect and admiration for each other so that they be-come and remain each other’s greatest friend, champion, and unwavering supporter. If love has been diminished or buried under hurt and disappointment, we ask that You will restore it. Give understanding and wisdom and strength, in Jesus’ name.
