Crushing it! The Graniterock construction team is recycling a 10-mile stretch of Highway 1 at the Santa Cruz/San Mateo County line for Caltrans District 4. What that means: We’re grinding the worn out pavement and reusing it to build the base for a new stronger, smoother surface. Much better for drivers as the road will be much improved. ... This process is also a big win for the environment because we won’t be hauling away old asphalt to the landfill.
