As our final Lenten meditation, we leave you with Psalm 22, the Psalm that Jesus recalled as he hung from the cross. As we make our way to Good Friday, we meditate on these prophetic words, and on our Lord and Savior who fulfilled them. The One who was scorned by mankind, and despised by the people; and whose great rescue plan was a surprising, and shameful death. Many thanks to all who were a part in making this Lenten series possible, and a special thanks Matt Beardsley for production.

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall become sons of God (Matthew 5:9). As we approach Good Friday, a day in which we remember the gruesome and unjust death of Jesus, we pause to reflect on one question: How does God deal with those who oppose him? Peace, reconciliation, justice and love are all bound up in the heart of God. Rather than allow his enemies, sinners who have betrayed Him, to have no path of redemption, God chose to make peace in a costly way His Son suff...ering on behalf of his enemies. Us. His desire to be reconciled to us, to have peace with us, came at an unimaginable loss the death of His only Son. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God (Matthew 5:8). It’s easy to hear the words of Jesus as holding forth an ideal of moral perfection. But what if Jesus wasn’t talking about sinlessness, so much as sincerity? What if Jesus was envisioning a life of honesty and integrity, formed by a single-minded devotion, where your outside self and inside self match? May this meditation give us eyes to see our King, who entered our world to win back our divided hearts.... In our culture, the time before Christmas is a time of celebration, gift-giving, and parties. The sooner the fun can start the better. It’s easy to overlook the significance of Advent in the rush of Christmas shopping. Advent requires some deep thought on serious subjects, and it’s harder to sell these themes than Christmas presents at the mall. So Christians who take Advent seriously find themselves looking strangely out of step.
