Holy Eucharist Twenty-Third Sunday after Pentecost

We are back with Saul, the first King of Israel. He has been chosen by God and anointed by the Prophet Samuel. He is well loved and doing well as a King. But, once again God has chosen a leader that is truly human. His soldiers break God's law. God is no longer pleased with Saul and sends Samuel forth to find another King. The children are invited to wonder how Saul felt when Samuel could truly "see things", how Saul felt when he discovered he was to be King of Israel, and how Saul felt after his soldiers did the one thing they had been told not to do.

A prayer shared with me yesterday: A Prayer to Keep Going God, I need you.... Carry me when I am weak. Hold me when I am tired. Love me when I cannot care anymore. And when I huddle Lonely and afraid Cover me with your strong Protective hands. Guard my sleep and Wake me in the morning, Rested and strong, and Ready to try again. By Joyce Rupp
