"Breastfeeding Support Team- When to Add a Chiropractor". I stumbled on this article this morning... A good overview (from the standpoint of the medical/lactation professional). Although I'd give a different description of a holistic chiropractor, it is encouraging to read that our care is supported and encouraged even in the medical model. This is a good article to share with your medical minded colleagues. https://connect.springerpub.com/content/sgrcl/11/1/7
This is happening this week and you can still register through the Life West website. It's been a huge honor for me to present these courses.

What is a cranial-sacral system, and why is it crucial for your baby's health and wellbeing? ------------------------ https://thegoodlifelearning.com//the-cranial-sacral-system/ ... ------------------------ See more
This is a great study! I only included snippets here. The authors were not addressing pediatric issues per say, but the information still applies. This deals with "frozen shoulder" in a surprising way... in a way that speaks to me. They focus on the OCCIPUT AND ATLAS biomechanics as it relates to the Trapezius, SCM, and the whole rotator cuff function. This same scenario can be applied to Torticollis and other scenarios that effect breastfeeding in the infant. SO COOL! It's all connected!
DID YOU KNOW... that the dreaded "Failure to Thrive" diagnosis of a baby can be easily explained in the Chiropractic and Cranial/Sacral model of care? The tongue is controlled by Cranial Nerve XII (Hypoglossal) which exits from the brainstem through the Hypoglossal Canal between the Occiput and the first cervical vertebrae. Imbalance in this area can irritate and compromise this nerve. BABY CAN'T SUCK. The main muscle of swallowing is the Stylopharyngeus, controlled by Cran...ial Nerve IV (Glossopharyngeal) which exits the brainstem through the Jugular Foramen located between the Temporal and the Occipital bones. Imbalance in this area can irritate and compromise this nerve. BABY CAN'T SWALLOW. The famous Vagus Nerve (CN X) also exits from the Jugular Foramen and innervates all of the body's vital functions- cardiac, respiration, digestion, etc... Imbalance and irritation at the foramen can compromise this nerve. BABY HAS LOW VAGAL TONE. Gentle adjustments and cranial therapy can not only improve breastfeeding, but it can actually be life-saving. Learn about this and more at www.thegoodlifelearning.com
