In honor of World AIDS Day, we continue to encourage everyone to know your #HIV status so you can make informed decisions about your #sexualhealth. The Early Test is a specialized viral load test that can detect acute (very early stage) HIV infection as soon as one week after potential exposure. The San Diego LGBT Community Center offers this test, and you can call 619.800.4252 to make an appointment for a test today. #gettested #knowyourstatus #hillcrest #sandiego #hillcrestsandiego #hivtesting #stdtesting

This video discusses why enrolling diverse participants in #COVID19 studies is critical for ensuring that, when we find a vaccine, we have enough data from populations who are most affected by COVID-19 to determine vaccine safety and efficacy. If you have any questions about the trials, send an email to [email protected]. If you're interested in participating in the trials, sign up on www.covidvaccinesd.com.tqTO4g

Researchers studied people taking #Truvada as #PrEP and plan to conduct similar research on newer antiretrovirals The combination antiretroviral tablet Truvada (tenofovir disoproxil fumarate/emtricitabine) is associated with changes to the gut-based immune system that may help individuals ward off viral infections other than HIV.

We have all been impacted by COVID-19, but there is hope. By joining together to protect our families and communities, we can overcome this challenge. UC San Diego invites you to be part of the solution by participating in a vaccine clinical trial in San Diego. We are in this together, and we can get out of this together. Visit www.covidvaccinesd.com for more details and to sign up for the vaccine trials. And don't forget to VOTE!

"Bradshaw-style, I couldn’t help but wonder: Could a casual, should-be-spontaneous sexual encounter possibly survive the requisite amount of health-info processing beforehand?"

Meet your test counselor, Carlos! Carlos (pronouns: he/him/his) has been with the Good To Go program for almost two years, but has been working as an HIV test counselor and intervention specialist for seven years. His favorite thing about being a test counselor is building trust with community members, helping to eradicate stigma, and educating clients with accurate information on how they can protect themselves and others against HIV. Carlos said, Most people fear getting ...tested or don’t trust healthcare agencies. My goal here at Good to Go is to break those barriers of fear and make everyone as comfortable as possible. This is what drives my passion in public health. Carlos is a baseball fanatic (Go Dodgers!) and working on visiting every professional baseball stadium in the US. Ready to get tested with Carlos or one of the other incredible test counselors? Make an appointment by calling (619) 543-9340. #gettested #knowyourstatus #hillcrest #sandiego #hillcrestsandiego #hivtesting #stdtesting #sexualhealth

Meet your test counselor, Lonny! Lonny (pronouns: she/her/hers) has been with our Lead the Way and Good To Go programs for seven years. The most rewarding aspect of being a test counselor for her is being able to offer the participants the opportunity to express themselves openly in a testing environment that is free of judgement. Lonny also loves lake kayaking, playing ping pong, and walking her dog. Ready to get tested with Lonny or one of the other incredible test counselors? Make an appointment by calling (619) 543-9340. #gettested #knowyourstatus #hillcrest #sandiego #hillcrestsandiego #hivtesting #stdtesting

In research published in the peer-reviewed journal Clinical Infectious Diseases, a UCLA-led team found that of 106 subjects the test identified as having a strain of gonorrhea called wild-type gyrA serine, all were cured with a single dose of oral ciprofloxacin. Though the test has been available for three years, this is the first time it has been systematically studied in humans.
