Hello families! Golden Steps Therapy is operating on our usual schedule until further notice. In light of the current situation with the Coronavirus Pandemic (COVID-19), we are taking significant precautions to ensure that we are providing a safe environment to serve your children and teens. We are performing a deep cleaning this weekend, sanitizing all therapy materials and hard surfaces (mats, floors, counters, desks, toys, and chairs, door handles, and the waiting area). ...We ask for your help with the following: 1. Consider Golden Steps Teletherapy! This is the BEST way to provide services and protect your child, at this critical time. Our teletherapy is a fun, two way interactive video session in the convenience and safety of your home. We use a secure, HIPAA compliant video platform and most major carriers cover teletherapy. 2. Please stay home if you or your child has any sign of illness (coughing, sneezing, running nose, sore throat, fever, etc) or you suspect possible contact with COVID-19, even without symptoms. 3. Wash hands upon entering our suite and before exiting the building (we are well stocked with hand soap and paper towels)! We hope to see everyone this week! I understand that you may have questions and concerns. As a parent myself, I can certainly empathize with the stress you are under. Please know that I am here to help you support your children during this time away from school and usual routines. I will be following up with some ideas for home for each of you to keep your kids active, healthy, and moving forward! Vicky

I’m hiding. Come and find me! Hide and seek is such a great way to work on social interactions, regulation, body awareness, and spatial thinking. Pirates, treasure hunts and treasure maps make it even more fun!

Love this video! Toddlers can be messy but giving them the opportunity to learn by doing is worth it!

I’ve had several parents ask me for preschool recommendations in the area this week. Selecting a preschool can be even more daunting for parents who have a preschooler with special needs. Here’s an article that offers some things to consider.

Need a rainy day idea? Ready or not, here I come! ...You’ll hear us playing hide-and-seek often at Golden Steps because we know how good it is for the kids. Here’s a great article that describes some of the many benefits for a child’s development.

Let’s get messy! Messy play offers a child opportunity to process tactile input...wet, sticky, slimy, and slippery... Tactile processing allows us feel the world around us and be ok with it. In this pic the child is not only experiencing tactile input, she is discovering how to use her feet to create a masterpiece!
