It is with a very heavy heart I write this post. Cali has been my loyal sidekick, training demo dog, sweet community volunteer, and smart baby girl for over 11 years. With ongoing challenges with her #heartcondition I made the very difficult decision to help Cali cross over the #rainbowbridge this coming Sunday There’s a few things she absolutely loves to do, and we’ve been off her #caninebucketlist Anyone who would like to join tomorrow morning from 9-11 a.m. at Coronado Dog Beach to celebrate and say farewell to Miss Cali is welcome (I’ll be and as I watch her enjoy her special day)! #goldenstateservicedogs #hospicecare #giveyourdoggrains

Next up with Homeschool fun is Cooking with Cali and Katie (now that’s a cooking show I’d watch) As most of you know by now, dogs MUST have grains in their diets or they risk serious medical conditions, like the heart condition Cali developed due to lack of grains because of her severe allergies. FACT: Just because ash falls into your pet's water does not mean it will suddenly turn it into lye (potassium hydroxide or sodium hydroxide). You need a LOT of... ash in water to make lye, and it must be from hardwoods. Douglas fir, which makes up much of Oregon’s forests, is a softwood. That is not to say that ash is harmless. It can contain other synthetic substances besides wood particles, but there is a low risk of lye forming in your pet's water bowl, especially if you keep it rinsed and refilled regularly. Just like with humans and wildfire smoke, it's best to stay inside. Super Saturday Boot Camps are back for September! This Saturday has a few more spaces available and we’ll be focusing on the proper working dog walk with natural social distractions. 9/19 we’ll have an AKC testing boot camp and on 9/26 we’ll have the popular Mind Your Manners class! #goldenstateservicedogs
