I once had a dance teacher who made us drop a quarter in a jar every time we said I can’t. At first, tons of quarters poured into the jar, but over time, the pace slowed. I would catch myself, laugh, and actually do the thing I thought I couldn’t do. I can is a declaration to the universe that I am capable, that I am more than I once thought, and that my quarters can be spent on something far more useful (although one could argue that those I can’t quarters were spent on exactly the most useful thing).
