God's Garden Church

The Gospel leaves an indelible mark on the Christian. It transforms him to such an extent that the genuine believer is rebirthed in Christ. This is new birth becomes evident as the Christian genuinely loves God in Faith, and loves all the brethren deeply. The Colossians were such a group and through this sermon, we explore the evidence of the Gospel in the Christian's life.

Paul addresses the Christians whom God has enriched with material possessions in this present age. As we dive into our sermon we find that a great majority of today's Christian fall into this category. Biblically, a wealthy person is one that has more than bare essentials (food, clothing, and shelter). Our scripture calls Christians to not depend on their wealth nor to have an air of pride in all that they have. We are to depend on God. Our job as Christians is not to amass temporal, earthly treasure but to amass eternal, spiritual treasure. This is done by using the material wealth given to us by our Lord to advance His holy cause and to bless our needful brethren. We are to be generous. This sermon is absolutely needed in our opulent culture. Let us have a biblical view of earthly treasure and not an earthly one.

This is the last of our sermons through our series the Word of God. We conclude our series with the call for the Christian to walk in obedience to God's revealed Word. We are warned that persistent and stubborn disobedience is indicative of an unregenerate heart. Beloved, let us walk fearfully before our Lord.

A Timoteo, como joven ministro, se le manda ser fiel al llamado de Dios. Pablo encarga a Timoteo en la presencia de Dios y de Cristo Jesús que guarde la fe viviendo en obediencia a la Palabra de Dios. Timothy, as a young minister, is commanded to be faithful to the call of God. Paul charges Timothy in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus to keep the faith by living in obedience to the Word of God. Timothy is to do so with an eye on the Second Advent of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The eager expectation of the imminent return of our Lord should cause him to invest all he has in being found faithful. This is the call to all ministers and consequently to all Christians. As the minister leads a holy and consecrated life, he becomes an example to the brethren of what is possible when a people love the Lord completely and love His people genuinely. The Word of God is a light to the Christian. It illuminates the Christian to both builds on a solid foundation and navigates the darkness of this present age. In the Word of God, we discover Jesus the logos of God. We discover Jesus the Light of the World. This parallelism between the Scriptures and Christ teaches us that the ultimate truth of Scripture is Jesus Christ Himself. To reject the Word of God is to reject the Son of God. Beloved, we must embrace God's Word, therefore, embracing Jesus Christ. We must let the light of God shine in our Gospel endeavor. The light of His Word will one day conquer the darkness of this present age forever.
