What's it take to maintain a small country estate? Really not much. Over an acre of this fenced property is left to the deer, rabbits, and other creatures sharing this 4-ac. parcel to do as they please (this could easily be your horse pasture). As for the remainder, what isn't landscaped only needs trimming once a year, with the side yard getting such attention twice. You could hire the crew who comes through every Saturday morning to do this for you if you prefer, but we're ...DIYers. And the first few years here we've cut the growth down using a rented walk-behind unit, but these past several seasons I've preferred using a conventional Shindaiwa string trimmer (purchased through eBay, it just runs and runs and runs....). Being good exercise, it only takes a few hours over the course of a few Saturday mornings to take care of the rest of the property. And it further connects you with what you own here, besides being a great time to listen uninterrupted to your music collection! So I get hooked up with my 192 GB MP3 player running in random mode, with my Shure sound isolating earphones covered by a pair of 3M H10A Peltor Ear Muffs (30 dB noise reduction). Not to come off like Tom Sawyer offering to let you paint Aunt Polly's fence, but it's actually fun.
