Dear friends and our supporters: Here is a message I just received. I know this person personally and her story is true and honest. You can either donate to Glo...bal Kindness and get a tax deduction for your generous donation or pay Dwp directly if you wish, if by any chance you make either checks, and or pay on line please indicate the purpose of the payment so that we could keep it for her. Here is her story: Mr Cohen, I am a Jewish single parent mother in the Valley with four children. I have been divorced almost 12 years and am the sole physical and legal custodian of all my children. My marriage ended because of severe domestic violence that I almost didn't survive. Im living on government assistance while going to school to become a paralegal and I'm working hard towards becoming self sufficient. When I moved into my house several years ago I was under the impression that the landlord was paying for my water charges. I never received a bill for water for two years. Last year, LADWP contacted me and forced me to sign for the two years of water under the threat that they would disconnect services. They brought a truck out to my house and I was scared. My lease states that I am in fact responsible for the water at the house and I had no choice but to sign for the water. I then had an astronomical bill to LADWP that I could not afford to pay on my extremely limited income of less than $1200.00 per month. I did my best to make payments on my account but was not able to keep up with the payment plan or the new charges on my bill and yesterday they came out to my home and cut my water and my power. I don't know what to do, I'm overwhelmed and very depressed. My children are crying and can't understand the situation. It is extremely difficult to be with four children in a home without the utilities connected and I desperately need some help to get them restored. I lost all of the food in my fridge and I am scrounging change for drinking water for my children. Unfortunately the LADWP is not responding to my pleas to reinstate service without the full amount which is $5,669.94. I realize that this amount is more than I would ever ask anyone for help with, but I am very thankful to HaShem for any amount that anyone is able to pledge towards my account. I am also willing to volunteer for anyone in exchange for some help. If anyone BeEzrat Hashem can help my family to restore services, me and my children are very appreciative and request that donations be made directly toward my account at LADWP. The account information is: Account number: 9071869048 1-800-DIAL-DWP Access Code 1111 Baruch HaShem, I appreciate so much the efforts of anyone who passes this message and can help us. If anyone would like to contact my families rabbis to confirm that we are in legitimate need of help they are Rabbi Harrosh of Baba Sali and Rabbi Ohana. Sincerely, Esther Ilana Bat Sarah and children Rachel, Rebecca, Leah and Sarah.
