Dear St. Francis family, It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing early this morning of our friend, colleague, mentor, and beloved head foo...tball coach Jimmy Bonds. Jimmy put up an amazing fight until his last breath. He was a fighter and an inspiration to all of us. His twenty-two years at St. Francis, twenty of them as Head Coach of the Varsity team and head of our football program, were marked not only by record victories but, most importantly, by the core values he instilled in our players. He lived those values. Jimmy believed in our Capuchin Franciscan virtues and the mission of our school. The Golden Knights who played for Jimmy knew that sportsmanship and character counted in their development as young men. They were always brothers because Jimmy encouraged them to support each other and to put the team above their personal ambitions. Jimmy's coaches, the players, the faculty and staff, and all of us in the Administration mourn the passing of one of our greatest in the history of St. Francis High School. We pray for the repose of his soul and will continue keeping his wife Tricia, their children Katie and James, Jimmy’s mother, his brother Tom and his wife Julie and their son Michael, and the entire family in our prayers. We will have a prayer service tonight at 7:00 pm. I will ask Fr. Christopher to resend the instructions for the prayer service. Jimmy ran with the ball and scored a touchdown into heaven.
