Solano County Sheriffs Department Have you or someone you know been a victim to catalytic converter theft? Did you know that converter theft is on the rise? In 2018, there was a nationwide average of 108 catalytic converter thefts per month! In 2019, that average was 282 and in 2020 it skyrocketed to 1,203 per month. Thieves target these because they are usually easy and fast to steal and worth a lot of money because of the precious metals inside. One way to combat this ...rampant trend is to mark your property with a unique number. On May 19th, we have 8 slots available to have this service done for free. The Solano County Auto Theft Task Force, a partnership between the Solano County Sheriff’s Office and the California Highway Patrol, are starting a program that they hope will gain traction Etch N Catch! On May 19th at the top of every hour, a local auto repair shop in Fairfield will be voluntarily engraving unique identifying information on catalytic converters for free! This way if you become the victim of a catalytic converter theft, your personal property can be entered into a database. If your property is found anywhere in the United States, any peace officer will be able to track it back to you and it will help to prosecute the suspect. If you want to have the chance to win this service for free, then message us below with Etch N Catch by Monday May 10th at noon. We will randomly choose eight winners and message them privately about how, where and when they can they can collect their prize. We’re not trying to be secretive about the where, but we also don’t want people taking advantage of our wonderful donor and inundating their business day. Trust me, they will get a huge shout out on the day of this service when we highlight our winners. We are hoping this is something we can grow with future free days and other automotive partners. Help us reduce crime and protect your personal property.

City of Vallejo PRESS RELEASE Vallejo to Receive a One-Time Payment Totaling $26.2 Million from the American Rescue Plan Act... Today, the Vallejo City Council and department directors convened on the front steps of City Hall, to graciously accept a $26.2 million dollar ceremonial check from Congressman Mike Thompson. The one-time injection of $26.2M comes to Vallejo through the federal government's American Rescue Plan Act, intended to support local government agencies in their recovery from the economic impact the covid-19 pandemic has had on those organizations. While Vallejo likely won't see the first half of the actual money until July or August of 2021, the City is prepared to begin the process of economic recovery. In 2020, the City of Vallejo deferred important purchases and maintenance to ease the financial impact the pandemic has had on the City. Interim Vallejo Fire Department Fire Chief Kyle Long said, "This money is a blessing for the City. I am hopeful that we can finally replace one of only two aerial ladder trucks the fire department has with some of those funds." The department retired its second ladder truck in 2019 and planned to replace the 29-year-old in 2020. As of today, the The U.S. Department of the Treasury has not issued the final detailed guidelines for how cities can spend the money, although they have confirmed that these funds cannot be used for pensions... ...Continue reading the full press release, here: https://conta.cc/3gY0Igo. #vallejo #cityofvallejo #americanrescueplanact

Regardless of the results of the 2020 election, there seems to be a concern that the United States will see civil unrest in its aftermath. The question is, how are law enforcement agencies preparing for it? The Sheriff’s Office has NOT received any credible information, which would lead us to believe there will be civil unrest in our area. However, we are keeping abreast of the climate and continually monitoring for any changes. In order to stay ahead, we will be upstaffing o...ur patrol shifts and will have additional personnel on standby to respond if needed. We will also be working with allied agencies to heighten safety during this election. Rest assured, we are here for our community! #Election2020 Solano County Sheriff

The Vallejo Small Business Microgrant application deadline is tomorrow at 5:00 PM! The Vallejo City Council approved a $250,000 grant program to assist small businesses that experienced severely limited operations or required closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Vallejo Small Business Microgrant Program will provide direct financial assistance to small businesses, the core of Vallejo and Solano County’s economy. The COVID-19 pandemic has had a disastrous impact on the... national, state, and local economy. Particularly hard hit are small businesses, many of whom have been required to close operations due to State of California and County Public Health orders. The city of Vallejo has received funding from the Federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act that will be used to fund grants to our local small businesses. For-profit businesses based in Vallejo with 20 or fewer full-time employees are eligible to apply for the Vallejo Small Business Microgrant Program. All grants will be distributed under a lottery system. For more information, visit http://ow.ly/F75q50C4z6w. #vallejo #cityofvallejo #smallbusiness City of Vallejo

The City of Vallejo Prepares to Open Emergency Operations Center as a Precautionary Measure During the 2020 Elections The City of Vallejo, in collaboration with the Vallejo Police and Fire Departments, will open their Emergency Operations Center (EOC) as a precautionary measure on November 2, 2020. This action is being taken in preparation for the potential for civil unrest directly associated with the 2020 elections. While there is no immediate threat of unrest, nor do we ...have reason to believe there will be a threat in the City of Vallejo or surrounding areas, the City must be prepared to respond to any emergency appropriately. The type of emergency will determine the appropriate response to any crisis. The Vallejo Fire Department will increase its staff by an extra Battalion Chief and an additional Fire Engine to assist with increased call volume if necessary during the EOC activation. The Vallejo Police Department will continue to have their mobile field force (MFF) on standby, prepared to mobilize in the event of social or civil unrest to help calm and disperse crowds. The City recognizes and respects our citizen's First Amendment Rights to free speech. However, we ask that anyone who intends to exercise these rights remain mindful that Covid-19 remains a threat, especially as we are entering the cold and flu season, which could place those with a compromised immune system at an increased risk for infection. Please continue to wear a mask, especially when gathering where social distancing can be difficult.
