Community. Family. Fun volunteer workday in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Thank you to Leadership Long Beach, Boeing and all the volunteers for transforming this community space to fight for food equity and green space for healthy living. The farm is ready for our community members, adults and K-12 students learning in the garden and healing!... Special thanks to our Urban Agriculture Director, David Hedden.

Happy holidays everyone! We got a persimmon Christmas tree at the farm today. Everything grows after the rain---the magic water. Catch them if you can!

The 2nd session of the day guessed the names correctly for the persimmons and squash. That got to pick and taste Charlie Moore's sweet and crispy persimmons, some got to take some fruits and squash home! One student said this was the best learning day of his life! They didn't want to go back to campus. #greenspace #learninginnature

The kids are back in the farm for Fall at 9:30am. They hope to come back and see how the veggies are growing and for a nice harvest. Our chicken Betty is a big hit! The kids searched for bugs and insects that are bad for the garden but delicious to Betty. They got to see the squash, that's as big as they are, and saw how they grow from seeds to mature squash for winter soups.... Education in the Gladys Ave Urban Farm directed by The MAYE Center, www.themayecenter.org. We have about 80-100 more elementary kids coming today. Last session will be 3pm.

Life happening beneath our feet! Veggies sprouting out the soil in Fall reaping the benefits from summer amenities of organic compost.

Ready to FALL in love with nature! Hundreds of veggies are growing for a couple hundreds of elementary students to enjoy Fall exploration and learning before this Thanksgiving.

The successful experiment! Every shovel was like cutting through cake. We are ready for a couple hundreds elementary students to come and learn about the interconnectedness of nature before this Thanksgiving. Yes we can garden, heal the ocean, and heal the community at the same time!
