Last week we announced the big news that gkkworks has joined @CannonDesign. The merger grows our office count to 24 and expands our portfolio significantly. Here’s a peek at one of the projects we’re especially excited about the Waukee Community School District’s Waukee Innovation and Learning Center. Rounding out the week of posts celebrating gkkworks joining @CannonDesign, here’s a look at UC San Diego Health’s Jacobs Medical Center. The sculptural medical center has gone onto win nearly every healthcare design award in the industry, including a National Healthcare Award from the AIA and an Award of Merit from Healthcare Design. Here’s another great project designed by our new colleagues at @CannonDesign: the University of Utah’s Lassonde Studios. Home to the Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute, the innovative building houses more than 400 unique student residences and 20,000 sf of garage space where any student on campus can build a prototype, attend an event or launch a company. Continuing our celebration of gkkworks joining CannonDesign, here’s another one of the firm’s signature projects CJ Blossom Park right outside of Seoul, South Korea. The 1.2 million SF research and development center beautifully breaks away from typical laboratory design paradigms, taking home numerous awards, including the Best of Asia Pacific Award from the International Interior Design Association. #gkkworks recently celebrated with its partners and the Ocean Charter School Community at the groundbreaking for Ocean's new K-8 campus. In true #Waldorf fashion, the day featured some talented Ocean students on violin and drums; they even customized the shovels with colorful hand-painted artwork! Speakers highlighted the enormous amount of hard work and perseverance leading to this day.

gkkworks manned a booth at the 36th annual Pasadena Black History Parade and Festival this past Saturday. The event was held at Robinson Park, where a Recreation Center renovation designed by the firm is currently under construction. Scheduled for completion later this year, the project includes new fitness and dance spaces, a new multi-purpose room and kitchen, new classroom spaces and a comprehensive renovation of the existing building. #cityofpasadena #robinsonpark
