It appears premium subsidy in the CA exchanged is going to be based on family income, rather than individually. This could affect subsidy eligibility for a married couple.

Rates may be 30% higher for some non-subsidized applicants on the new CA health exchange. This is based on a actuary report commissioned by the CA exchange. To get actual rates, we'll have to wait a few months when insurers will advise rates.

Part of the new healthcare law starting 1/2014 that could negatively effect rates for younger applicants: Insurers can only charge older applicants 3 times more than younger, it use to be more than that, believe 5 times.
