December 10 1783 George Washington ate at City Tavern. No stranger to this fine establishment he had met with members of the 1st and 2nd Congress here, met Laf...ayette here and really dined here whenever he was in Philadelphia. Today sadly the Tavern has been closed. A casualty of Covid and a great loss to Historic Philadelphia. See more
