The George Na'ope Hula Festival 05.02.2021

THE GEORGE NA'OPE HULA FESTIVAL IS CANCELLED I hope this email finds you all doing well and coping with this CV-19 shelter in place order. It's been hard on many of you I know and especially for your halau and extended 'ohana. I have been following the news on the CV-19 updates for the past month and it's becoming more and more obvious to me what the direction our state of CA is going. I had a meeting with my 'ohana this weekend about our event and we talked about many mov...ing parts of the event. After hearing the governor of this state of CA make a statement that we may be opening businesses up soon, some of the public locations, with some requirements which in our case is the fact that he doesn't believe that any large events with large gatherings will be allowed for some time to come. So with just that announcement/comment, we decided that the best thing for us to do is to cancel our event for this year. The George Na'ope Hula Festival is cancelled for 2020 and it's sad to announce. I have talked with all of the judges to share comments and my concerns and especially our efforts to wait until the last minute to see if we could pull this off and keep our event and even they agree that it is the right move to make for this year. I know many of you have still been practicing online with your haumana and I appreciate all of the efforts you have all been putting forward to try to remain vigilant with practice. Let's not let that all go to waste and keep it going for our 2021 GNHF to come next year! SAVE THE DATE JULY 16-18, 2021 and come join us again. Aloha and mahalo for your continued support, Rick San Nicolas

Aloha FB Friends and Family! I'm so sorry that I've been away from the page and information as many of you have had questions about our recording of the 2019 GNHF, I spoke with the vendor last week about this and he assured me that mailing of the festival recording will begin this week and you all can expect to begin receiving them by the end of the week. Art Bassard of State Wide Productions can be reached at [email protected] if by the beginning of next week y...ou don't receive your copy that you should send an email to inquire. This is Art's first year doing our event and even though he thought that he would be complete with this project in three months, he has found out how large of a project our event is and how much longer the editing was required. As the festival founder, I apologize for this delay and you should be receiving your purchases very soon. SAVE THE DATE for July 17-19, 2020 for the 14th Annual George Na'ope Hula Festival (GNHF) and make your reservations at our host hotel Holiday Inn Downtown Arena. Information is all available at www.GeorgeNaopeHulaFestival.com. Mahalo for your support and Happy New Year to you all! Aloha, Uncle Rick See more
