Geolarping 05.05.2021

Hurrah! Hurrah! Hurrah! The previously announced upcoming geolarping event has now taken place! We'll be updating the site soon with the details, but we have to wait for the event photos to be developed, so please be patient a little while longer! We're having trouble finding a PhotoHut.... Note: The attached photo is not related to the geolarping event, it was include for visual interest and as a reminder that neither the Amish nor hardcore Geolarpers use digital cameras. Elston and Jackline Hill at http://www.elstonhill.com/ do use a digital camera to film their travels to every place on earth.

We're a little behind schedule for the upcoming geolarping news, but we have been busy answering questions and updating the FAQ. Q: Can I play too? A: Of course! Everyone can play.... Q: How large of an area is needed? We have two neighbors yards, the school yard next door (with forest) and our yard. A: The 'rules' of Geolarping are very loose. We believe that the goal of geolarping should be to have fun while participating in LARPing quests. So as long there is some 'travel' involved you should be fine. If the participants are standin around yelling "Lightning Bolt!" and whacking each other with swords - it might still be LARPing, but it would not be geolarping. Q: I have a question. I was at a game shop and in one of the corners, some people were Larping I think (they were roleplaying that they were werewolves ). I started to laugh and my son told me that I would have to leave if I could not control my laughter. Would this be a problem at a Geolarp? A: Larping is "Live Action" Role Playing. It is different from "Table Top" Role Playing. In Larping, the participants physically portray the speech and movements - similar to acting. If you attend a geolarp, please attempt to remain in character for the enjoyment of all participants. If you need to laugh pretend that you've just remembered something funny. Also see: http://knightsofbadassdommovie.com/ Q: Do I have to bring my own armor and weapons? A: Unfortunately you will need to bring your own armor and weapons. Q: What level do I need to be to fight an orc? A: In most campaigns, orcs are considered level 1 monsters, but adjustments can be made based on the time of day. Orcs are dazzled by bright sunlight, but they do have excellent darkvision - so be careful during a night time adventure! Q: If I had one, could I ride a horse while Geolarping? I understand that pets are not allowed - but I don't think it's clear if a horse is classified as pet or as livestock for Geolarping purposes. A: Unfortunately horses are not allowed. The reason is that although horses may know how to "play" they definitely do not know how to "role-play." It breaks the suspension of disbelief if not all of the participants are role-playing. We understand that by its nature, Geolarping involves more travelling than plain vanilla LARPing, and in an upcoming post we will have some ideas on role-playing steeds and pack animals.

We apologize for the delay of the promised geolarping news, but at the present time, we are having difficulties with the local fire protection service. We'll reveal the news as soon as we are able - please be patient.
