It's almost like magic! A day after l explain how the leg needs to be behind the ankle and leg for better balance, this gem pops up on my feed. Exhibit A: placement of the leg in arabesque. I rest my case.... Everyone Can Dance! Even if your arabesque is a terre.

My favorite Hippo Princess! Fiona is demonstrating a lovely tour en l'air. In Ballet speak, that is a jump that turns in the air. Can you relate? Need a break? Geary Dance Center will be reopening some classes for in-person instruction April 5, just in case you need to park your little cub somewhere for an hour or so.

I will share this every time it comes around. Today it's in honor of the women of Geary Dance Center, keeping us strong while we navigate through this incredibly difficult year (and longer) of being closed with no foresight of financial assistance geared towards those mandated to be closed the longest. We've been helped by generous customers, an understanding landlord, now depleted savings and students who love dance enough to learn it online. Thank you. Looking forward to finally reopening for in-person classes in APRIL!!! Best birthday present ever.

Just this past week in Ballet I we learned that we push off the floor and stretch our legs, ankles, feet and toes for maximum jump! Little Fiona, the Hippo Princess of the Cincinnati Zoo, already knows this! Go, Hippo Princess, go! Look at those cute pointed feet!

Tappin' Tuesday! The San Francisco Bay Area is a vibrant mosaic of dance and has hundreds of companies that specialize in ethnic and cultural movement styles. One of my favorite local Flamenco artists is Fanny Ara who has the ability to infuse her dancing and choreography with more modern elements while still honoring tradition and technical skill. Brava!
