We gathered at the historic Morgan Chapel on Palm Sunday night. It was a great time in the Word, reflecting on Jesus, his last week of ministry on earth, and his sacrificial death on the cross for us.

When we are walking through a season of pain or hardship, it can be easy to look at the world through the lens of our current circumstances and see only pain an...d hurt. In the midst of this, it can be easy to get angry and stay that way to isolate ourselves to look in the mirror and see only brokenness. Sweet friend, as children of God we have a choice to look at the world through the lens of the Father rather than the lens of our deepest pain. Colossians 3:2 says, Set your mind on things above, not on earthly things. When we set our minds on Christ, our perspective shifts. While we can still see the pain, the hurt, and the brokenness, we can also see God's promises to us in the midst of it all. The promise that God will fight for us, we need only to be still. (Exodus 14:14) The promise that no weapon formed against us will prevail. (Isaiah 54:17) The promise that God goes with us and before us, and He will never leave us. (Deuteronomy 31:8) This means we don’t have to stay angry. We don’t have to isolate ourselves. We don’t have to only see brokenness. We can choose to shift our perspective and hold tight to these promises of God. Where do you see God’s promises in the midst of pain in your own life?
