GARDEN HOUSE is back! Our first day will be Tuesday, Oct 15th. Our regular hours will be: Monday - Friday: 11am to 3pm. ... This is our 28th year as a business in Downtown Oakland. It’s been a grueling 2.5 years of battling with contractors and permitting but we’re relieved to be back. We hope to see you soon!

Hello to our loving community, With some excitement we want to let you know that we see the light at the end of the tunnel. Our last bit of construction has been scheduled out and if all our inspections go well, we should be up and running by the end of March. It’s has been a tough two years, something that I’m sure could easily wreck a small business. We’re blessed to have a strong family that has never given up on this dream and one another. ... Hello everyone, Sorry it took so long for an update. WE ARE COMING BACK! We have signed a multi year lease so, the space is still ours for some years. We have had a heartbreaking number of setbacks due to an uncooperative contractor and are trying to push through as best we can. We thank you for supporting us and for being concerned. Please understand that we are in a terrible predicament. This is our livelihood and through all of this we are still paying rent on a space we ...cannot use. We are in a horrible position so please be kind when you send us messages. Telling us to hurry up doesn’t help anyone. We are trying. Thank you

Hello everyone! We hope you’re doing well. We have more not so great news that we’ve been trying to cope with the last few weeks. It seems the contractor that is working on our project has made some grave errors that have pushed our opening back even further. This has been stressful and heart breaking to say the least. It hasn’t been easy for us to be away from our home for just about a year now.... The reality is that we were supposed to reopen months ago but with these old buildings it’s hard to know what you’ll unearth. The rest of our building has been completed, in part because no new electrical, plumbing and gas had to be brought in. Please be patient with us. We’ve hired a new project manager that is Hell-bent on getting this project complete this summer. We love and miss you, The GH Family

Hi y'all! Happy New Year! Check out the beautiful new facade of our building! Construction is going smoothly now and we are hoping to wrap up sometime in February. It's been a loonngg road getting here and we are very excited to show you all what we've been working on. Thank you always for your support and your patience.

Hi Everyone! We hope you're all doing well. We miss you! Lately we've been running into a lot of our customers around the restaurant. One common concern is the displacement of small businesses in Downtown Oakland. Honestly, it's all very scary. We see it, too and we've known a lot of the businesses that have been forced out of the neighborhood. WE ARE COMING BACK but it definitely has not been easy. We will update you as we get more information. There really aren't a lot of r...esources for small family businesses around here. Situations where you can land an "opportunity" to stay are few and far between and come at a heavy cost but we are determined to stay. Throughout the construction we've been keeping ourselves busy with our other family business Aburaya Japanese Fried Chicken. Mom has been taking the time to travel which has been long overdue. So we're all still happy and healthy through this extremely stressful time. Thank you so much for your patience and believe us, we miss our salads, too! Love and a warm hug, The SOK Family
