Garden Valley Fire Training

Communication during an incident is paramount to our success in the fire service. When communication is impaired risk increases and productivity drops. For this reason, wireless phone and Internet service is an important necessity. More often than not, Wildland fires occur in rural areas where no cell service is available. Our technical rescue team was recently deployed to the trailhead fire in Northern California's El Dorado National Forest. Upon arrival we were pleasantly... surprised to see that AT&T had deployed a Cell On Wheels (COW) to provide cell service for fire operations and personnel. Being away from our families for 2-3 weeks at a time can be very hard on fire personnel. Being able to have cell service is a luxury that makes us smile. Thank you Barbara Winn and AT&T from the bottom of our hearts for keeping us "connected" to our families.
