On October 12, 2019 at the Legion of Honor museum in San Francisco , the first international exhibition in 21st century of James Tissot was opened to public! 60 paintings from collections all around the world and a good number of prints, sketches, art objects were well displayed showing a rich story of James Tissot in the art history of humankind. Spectacular beautiful and world class exhibition !... Love, love, love!!!

Painting from the memory! Anytime I pass by the portrait of the young woman by Matisse in Legion of Honor museum it always bring back a beautiful memory I have in my life as an art collector! It was spring 2009! It was the trip my late husband and I went to Paris to write the article about an artist we love. Claude Duthuit , head of the Matisse Foundation reminded us to reserve our time for a visit at his residence in Paris. He said he would make sure that he would not mis...s us and we must have dinner together. Being a friend for several years with the same interests in history and archeology, Claude and Barbara Duthuit gave us not just a treat that night . It’s an honor to have a private viewing the portrait of Woman with Black Cat. It was painted in 1910 , one of the family heirloom because grandpa Matisse painted Mama Marguerites ! As the only grandson of Matisse, Claude kept this portrait of his mother, hung it in the classy apartment he has in Paris . And he Informed us that night it would go to Centre Pompidou after he passed away. We stood in front of the painting for a long time even though there are many more Matisse in the place after we heard that. We did have a great time having dinner at the restaurant Claude likes. Barbara gave Lily a doll as a souvenir of one of the first art trips she had with the whole bunch of art lovers! Saying goodbye to us , Claude and Barbara signed an important book about Matisse and gave us for our library. If my life is counted on the moments, a moment like that always an honor of a lifetime! How lucky am I?!

In our museum in San Francisco we have a small gallery where we always have exhibition on Book design! This time the exhibition focus on the Dadaism, Surrealism illustration from the master on book. If you have any question on any book, I might ask the expert or curator of the show when I have chance . Enjoy the show!

Our museum visitors are also put influencers of art! The lady handcrafted whole set of clothes for 2. She and her husband enjoy wearing them for a day of leisure in the Legion of Honor! I am amazed of all of the details I saw!!!

It’s 1 of the 10 must see exhibition of 2019! It’s Paul Rubens, the early year! I am sitting in front of 3 life size paintings from 30 oil on canvas and 20 paper works we display this time! Spectacular selection of the art works!
