#SaturdayStudentShoutout Students doing AP Chemistry in the backyard? Heck, yeah! Our amazing GALA science department, Ms. Eckel and Ms. Clark sent our science ...students home with hands-on experiments, complete with safety goggles and a lab coat! This is a film canister rocket. GALA AP Chem student and her trusty assistant (aka GALA sister) filled the canister with water and an Alka Seltzer tablet and capped it off. Gas pressure builds up eventually popping the cap and shooting off like a rocket. The experiment involved finding various reaction rates by altering the temperature of the water and the amount of the tablet added. Check out the video for their final result. Mom said there may be a few canisters still on the roof! Now, that's a powerful rocket!
