We love our patients! Read below for the full review "I'm so blessed to have found this place. Dr. Jane Mead is so nice and extremely knowledgable and all the staff are super nice, kind and caring. They have high tech healing equipment not found at your typical Physical Therapy office. Healing equipment highly paid athletes have access to. Here you'll find healing modalities such as Light Force Laser Therapy and Miracle Wave (shock wave therapy). I came in for chronic ...calcifying tendonitis of the shoulder seeking an alternative to surgery and in only 2 visits I've experienced substantial mobility as well as pain and inflammation reduction. Do yourself a huge favor and make an appointment to see Dr. Jane Mead, your body will thank you." - Mark #review #patientreview #physicaltherapy #physiotherapy #fyzicaltherapyandbalancecenters #fyzical #fyzicalglendale #glendale #glendaleca #glendalecalifornia

Posture Tip How do you usually stand? Wide stance ?... Knees locked out ? Hips shifted forward ? Rounded shoulders ? Forward head ? Let's be honest...we all like standing this way because it is the less active and seemingly less work for our muscles. However, this posture passively relies on the tension of our structures for stability and puts us in poor positions to move from. One of the easiest ways to improve your posture? Try standing with your feet together Disclaimer: please be careful trying this as it may affect your balance and stability. If you feel unstable when standing with your feet together, please call/text or DM us so that we can help improve your balance! Did you know? More than 40% of Americans are deficient in Vitamin D? Even in sunny California, 40-50% of the population is Vit-D deficient.... A study done by the Mayo Clinic has found that people with a vitamin D deficiency are more likely to test for Covid-19 and are more likely to have more serious symptoms such as respiratory difficulties. The CDC recommends at least 20 minutes of sun exposure to reduce the likelihood of vitamin D deficiency. This is a perfect opportunity to get outside and go for a walk to get some fresh air, exercise and vitamin-D! #vitamind #vitaminddeficiency #health #covid_19 #coronavirus #physicaltherapy #physiotherapy #fyzicaltherapyandbalancecenters #fyzicalglendale

Despite the fact that the weather is sunny and 75, winter is upon us! As the pandemic continues, and flu season arrives, it is very important to make sure your immune system is well-equipped and supported! One of the easiest ways to do this is to wash your hands appropriately Using warm water and soap, scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds. Try singing Happy Birthday or Twinkle Twinkle Little Star to make sure you scrub long enough ... #covid_19 #coronavirus #pandemic #fluseason #stayhealthy #immunesystem #health #physicaltherapy #physiotherapy #fyzicaltherapyandbalancecenters #fyzicalglendale

There are many ways to implement Intermittent Fasting It is important to create a schedule that works for you! Keep in mind that it takes at least 12 hours for the body to completely process food, so your fasting window should be at least 12 hours or longer. Another important fact is to make sure that your fasting window is C L E A N. A "clean" fast means that there is absolutely no food, or nothing that your brain will consider as food, during that 12+ hour window. Even ...drinking sweetened drinks, cream in your coffee, or chewing gum is a big no-no. As soon as your mouth tastes something sweet, your brain reacts and releases insulin. This begins the process to prepare your stomach for food, which creates a hungry feeling when it is not satisfied! It will be easier to stay disciplined through your fast without that extra cue, and this will allow your body's metabolism to work with no interruptions or distractions. Once your eating window begins, there are no rules! Sort of. You don't have to count calories or feel guilty about eating sweets or drinking a glass of wine. HOWEVER, your body WILL want nutritious and healthy food to fuel up. That means eat your veggies! But the good news is that during your eating window you are free to eat yummy, delicious, QUALITY food. So enjoy it! But don't forget that when your window is closed, it is closed. For more information, we recommend the book Fast, Feast, Repeat by Gin Stephens This book provides a simple and comprehensive understanding about the physiology of intermittent fasting and many options for how to succeed. This is not medical advice. Please consult with your doctor if you have questions or concerns about changing your diet and eating habits. #intermittentfasting #cleanfast #timerestrictedeating #dietplan #diet #health #healthyeating #physicaltherapy #physiotherapy #fyzicaltherapyandbalancecenters #fyzicalglendale

Ever feel like you just got off a boat? It is estimated that ~40% of adults will experience some form of dizziness or vertigo in their lifetime and can affect people of all ages. Many people are unaware that vertigo is actually a symptom and not a disease, meaning that what they're feeling is actually an indication of an underlying condition, such as: Vestibular Hypofunction: your inner ear system plays a huge role in maintaining balance and reacting to postural changes.... If there is a deficit in this system contributing to a sensory mismatch, symptoms of dizziness may result. Migraines Upper cervical spine instability: aka neck pain Dehydration Side effects from medication Anxiety Dizzy spells may contribute to feeling off-balance, or dysequilibrium, which may increase instability and risk for falls. Our therapists are trained in vestibular rehabilitation, a specialty within physical therapy that can help address and treat vertigo, dysequilibrium and balance deficits. Call or DM us today if you are feeling these symptoms and start the road to recovery!

Did you know? Our physical therapists are doctors? Most physical therapists today hold a doctorate degree in physical therapy, but many people may not know this because the evolution of education for physical therapists has changed drastically since the profession began 100 years ago. The physical therapy profession began in the 1920s in response to the ways that WWI and polio affected many people's functional capabilities. By the 1940s, the qualifications had grown f...rom simple and inconsistent qualifications to the requirement of a Baccalaureate degree. By the 1960s, a bachelor's degree was officially deemed the minimum requirement for practicing physiotherapists. By 1999, a post-baccalaureate degree was required. As the profession continues to progress in response to increased need for functional and medical attention, the need for increased educational requirements continues. Currently, all programs now provide and require a doctorate level of education. As part of the American Physical Therapy Association's Vision, "By 2020, physical therapy will be provided by physical therapists who are doctors of physical therapy, recognized by consumers and other health care professionals as the practitioners of choice to whom consumers have direct access for the diagnosis of, interventions for, and prevention of impairments, functional limitations, and disabilities related to movement, function, and health." So here we are today! In 2020, where physical therapists are trained at a doctoral level, can independently evaluate patient's without a referral, and have been trained in screening techniques to know when a patient is appropriate for physical therapy. The profession has changed so much over the years, but we are committed to providing you comprehensive and compassionate care so that all of your health needs are addressed. #doctorsofphysicaltherapy #physicaltherapy #fyzicaltherapyandbalancecenters #fyzicalglendale

2020 has been full of ups, downs and surprises. COVID-19 has led to stay-at-home orders, closed gyms and significant reductions in physical activity. Daily step counts have reduced from several thousand to several hundred as people move from their bed to their couch or home office. There are very limited reasons for leaving the house. As physical activity reduces, we have seen a huge uptick in general aches and pains. Simple solution: motion is lotion! However ...you can, get moving! Take 3 trips to your kitchen to make your lunch, grab your drink and pick up a napkin and utensils you "forgot." Dust off any exercise equipment you might have or use some basic items you might have around the house such as cans of soup for weights or standing on pillows for balance activities. Hop in your swimming pool or take a walk around the neighborhood. Sit on an exercise ball while you work at your desk. Get creative! Comment below with the ways you've been staying active during these crazy times! #motionislotion #physicaltherapy #choosept #fyzicaltherapyandbalancecenters #fyzicaltherapy #fyzicalglendale See more

Did you know?! Since the 90s, deaths due to opioid overdose has increased 4x! Everyday, 128 people die from an opioid overdose and more than 1,000 are treated in an ER. In 2017, healthcare providers across the US wrote more than 191 million prescriptions for opioid pain medication (a ...rate of 58.7 prescriptions/100 people)! Physical therapists are increasingly being recognized as an option for addressing these issues to help patients manage pain and limit addictions to opioid medications that may one day become fatal. Happy National Physical Therapy month! This week we will be addressing what physical therapy is and some common misconceptions. Most people believe that physical therapy serves solely as rehabilitation after an injury or accident. However, PT can help with a wide range of conditions and impairments beyond muscle and joint pain. Our physical therapists are trained at a doctorate level in addressing any issues that affect someone's movement including muscles and bones, nerv...es, cardiovascular structures and fascia. Physical therapists offer a non-invasive option to address orthopedic injuries, headaches, dizziness, incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse as well as many other conditions. Not only can we offer relief for your immediate symptoms, but we also take a holistic approach to seek out and treat the root cause. #fyzicaltherapyandbalancecenters #fyzical #physicaltherapy #nationalphysicaltherapymonth #cardiovascular #fascia #orthopedics #holistichealth #holistichealing #holisticwellness
