Dear EOPS/CARE/CalWORKs & FYSI students these past several days of protest have been heavy on our hearts. It goes without saying that these terrible acts of racism and hate are unacceptable! Here at Fullerton College, we have always fostered an environment of inclusion and acceptance of all people. We want you to know that we all stand with the Black community to support social justice and vocalize equal opportunities. We are here for you if you need to speak to us. Our counselors and specialist are available if you need to talk. In the meantime, we must stand strong and remain united!

Sometimes it’s so SO hard to believe, especially when you’ve been through pain that’s left you carrying a lifetime of shame and hurt - but EVERY SINGLE PART of you is worthy of love and care. Every. Single. Part.Always. #fostercareawarenessmonth #mentalhealthawareness

Foster Youth Success Initiative 23.06.2020

In honor of May for both Foster Care Awareness Month & Mental Health Awareness. Pic 1: All these things represent the ways people have tried to deal with deep emotional pain and distress, often going back into childhood. They also represent the labels people use to help understand why someone doesn’t behave in the way they think they should. Mental health issues aren’t trivial and the people experiencing them aren’t weak. Usually it shows they’ve survived throug...h something much bigger than you know. All mental health difficulties and the people suffering with them are worthy of our understanding, care and love. Pic 2. Comparative suffering doesn’t support anyone. Right now we’re doing it more than ever, to ourselves and to others. You don’t need more shame in your life, survivors carry enough shame as it is. Be kind to yourself. Don’t add more. Just allow yourself to feel what emotions are there and know it’s okay. #fostercareawareness #mentalhealthawareness See more
