Our Maasai village is having problem's due to the Corona virus, due to no tourists coming they are unable to make any money to purchase food. They don't eat meats but on certain occasions, then it is goats meat. Their usual meals consists of a white corm meal cooked till solid, and also rice and beans. Would you find it in your heart and pocket book to give a small donation so we can continue to send money to Kenya to buy food for them. Since this virus doesn't seem to be going away anytime soon, this will be an on going project to keep them alive. The receive no help from their government, and the land they were moved to is not able to grow any crops as it is total volcanic. Our web site has a place to send donations and it is secure. Thank You so much for caring.

With all of us on somewhat of a lockdown, those in Kenya are too. their President shut down all airlines coming into the country from areas that had the virus. He also restricted the people that if they lived in a certain county could not travel to other counties, and so far their numbers of the virus have been much lower than ours. On another note, since we are not able to have a fund raising event in the near future, we will be working on a way to raise funds to build a bathroom in Kyaani high School, one with running water and a much needed item for the students and teachers. As of now they have out houses, which are terrible. We are needing close to $25,000 to complete the job, we have about $20,000 now. So if any of you have any ideas on how to raise this dollar amount please let us know.

We are locked in to our homes and some of us are able to go to work now. Kenya is still on night time lockdown from 7PM to 5AM, they are not allowed to leave the county that they live in and go to another. There are border checks to make sure those arriving to return to Kenya are safe to let enter. Kenya has had very few cases compared to other countries, but it was due to their President closing down the airlines from any country that had known cases of the virus. I don't see us being able to return to Kenya until it is shown that the virus is under control. And with the protests etc I only see them increasing. To all of you stay safe, wear a mask, trust me you too can get the virus if you are careless.

Passing of William Muli in Kenya It is with great sadness to have to tell you William Muli passed away on Thursday August 15th in the area of Lake Nakuru at the age of 58. He leaves behind his Mother Tabitha, his wife Rose, his children Josephine, Catherine, Brian, and John, his brother Alex, and Christopher and their families.... William was a dedicated man who wanted things better for his people, he worked to achieve this in many ways, he has worked with the Rotary Clubs to improve the infrastructure in Kenya. By being the Go To Person if you wanted things to get done. Those of us at Friends of Woni Kenya International are devastated with this loss, he was a guiding Star, and he always came through with what we needed.
