Tomorrow we celebrate Earth Day with our monthly Creek Day at Paradise Creek Educational Park. If you have time to visit the creek we need your help picking up trash, pulling invasive weeds, and fine tuning the paths around the park. Meet at the Hoover Avenue entrance off 18th Street from 8:30 to 12 noon. Bring your gloves, hat, water, etc. Happy Days!

This Saturday, March 27, is the date of the next Creek Day at Paradise Creek Educational Park. We meet at the Hoover Ave. entrance at 8:30 AM o 12 noon. The recent March rains have brought some trash down through the National City watershed. We can keep it out of the Pacific Ocean by spending a little bit of a Saturday morning on this important task. You can also see the new Native Plants, check out the newly opened section of the park and the Family Garden, and look at the migratory birds in temporary residence. Thanks.

Hello friends and followers, This Saturday is our monthly Creek Day at Paradise Creek Educational Park from 8:30 to 12 noon. Come out and help keep the wetland habitat looking good. Winter rains have brought in some trash from the neighboring streets. We will be planting some native plants along the edge between the new park's buffer and the Original Phase 1 area. Today,PCEPI starts a new post called, "First Monday." These messages will not tell schedules, not advertise events, and not speak of plans. They will, instead, encourage questions, show a vista of beauty, or open paths to contemplation. Here is the first one: FOR THE CHILDREN by Gary Snyder... The rising hills, the slopes, of statistics lie before us. the steep climb of everything, going up, up, as we all go down. In the next century or the one beyond that, they say, are valleys, pastures, we can meet there in peace if we make it. To climb these coming crests one word to you, to you and your children: stay together learn the flowers go light

In a strange year, a strange, rust-colored obelisk has plopped down at Paradise Creek Educational Park. What is it? See for yourself at the new park entrance on 22nd Street in National City, near the 24th Street Trolley Stop. "Alien Obelisk" has the most votes so far

Hi everybody. Coastal Cleanup Day is this weekend. If you can get out this Saturday and cover your neighborhood's streets, alleys, gutters and waterways then you will be helping the PLANET! That's what it's all about. That... and... teaching children to do it, too. Be safe and see you at Paradise Creek Educational Park soon.

Hi Friends, Paradise Creek has been blessed with over 200 hours of volunteer work during the months of the shutdown. Remember- the park's elevated boardwalk is open for viewing the wetlands. "Trash is in quarantine!" Bike riders-please walk. Dog walkers- please scoop it up! And be careful around the construction behind Kimball School. There will more progress pictures after our next Creek Day Cleanup on September 26.

With last Saturday's Creek Day, we resumed our activities at Paradise Creek Educational Park. Not "regular" in any way except that it's still on the LAST SATURDAY of every month and there is still a lot to do to protect our natural environment. If you feel comfortable resuming your volunteerism or starting your new stewardship for the neighborhood and planet, come on out. Safety is first. See you September 26 at 8:30 am.

Good Morning friends, While the shutdown still effects our normal routines, rest assured that Paradise Creek remains a jewel in the community. Construction on the newest additional acreage continues. Hope you’re all well. We miss seeing you at Paradise Creek Educational Park. Just a couple of Positive notes from the creek. First, during this lengthy three-month shutdown, over 100 hours of volunteer work has still been served maintaining the Hoover Avenue entrance to the park. Secondly, tomorrow morning is the annual Creek to Bay event with our stellar partner, I Love A Clean San Diego. This year, there will be no cleanup at the creek, instead, you can help out by taking charge in your own neighborhood. If we all pick up the plastic and styrofoam and even the bigger items along our parkways, we truly clean the Entire W A T E R S H E D ! Sign up on the I Love A Clean San Diego website and join the county effort. Take care and be safe.

Take a video tour of the newest part of Paradise Creek Educational Park. The wetland is protected by a buffer, a trail and storm water basin have been constructed, and there is an open area for socially distant park fun. I'll let you know more as it develops.

I want to wish all of the friends of Paradise Creek a very Happy Earth Day 2020. Fifty years ago, activists realized the need to get together to promote protection of the planet. Today, we must do a lot more than recycle and buy green products. The animals and natural habitats of the Earth need people to step up and speak for them. We need the global climate in balance. Earth Day is a day of promise and urgency. Take care of each other and see you all soon at Paradise Creek.

Good heavens, tomorrow is the last Saturday of December, the last of the year, and the last of the decade. It’s Creek Day and we will be at Paradise Creek with coffee and donuts to survey the habitat after the storms and high tides. Can you make it? Next month, Creek Day is on the usual Last Saturday from 8:30 to noon. Thanks to everyone who has supported our programs since 1998. Best wishes in 2020!

We are very thankful for all of the wonderful volunteers we have at Paradise Creek Educational Park. Our Creek Day this month might be under rainy skies, but that is a good time to get a different perspective of the salt marsh as it allows the water to drain out to San Diego Bay. Also, there has been an abundance of Egrets and other birds feeding at the Creek lately. Come and see us this Saturday from 8:30 to noon.

Our Coastal Cleanup day will start at Cleveland Ave. and 19th Street. We are Plogging the streets in search of trash. Walk, jog, run, casually stroll- while on the lookout for the trash that usually ends up in the Creek. Tomorrow will be fun. 8:30 to 11:30. PLEASE NOTE- The I Love A Clean SD and Coastal cleanup websites have our location for the day at the Educational Park. We will not be working there tomorrow. Thanks.
