This is an interesting read
I, and many of my cousins were never taught to speak Italian even though our parents were fluent...this explains a very good reason why...though it was wayyyy before our time, the influence was probably still there for them. Have you seen this World War II propaganda poster before? It could be the reason your ancestors didn't teach you Italian. Tell us if you can relate!
These 1st generation American’s born to Italian immigrants, raised on the West Side of Fresno, on the 1000 block of A street. Lived next door to each other. Were lifelong best friends. John Alfano served in the Navy. Pasquale Pat DeLiddo served in the Army. They were World War II heroes. When they returned home from the war, they married the Nunes sisters, their childhood sweethearts who lived on C st. On this Memorial Day, and every day, thank a Veteran.
