To kick off Classified Appreciation Week, FUDTA delivered more delicious burritos from Cantaritos to the essential workers in SEIU & CSEA running the 5 lunch distribution sites, the FUSD warehouse, and the maintenance/bus yard Thank you to our colleagues working to support our students and community!
In honor of Day of the Teacher, FUDTA was proud to pay it forward by supporting local restaurants and providing meals to the often unsung essential workers whose labor keeps the Fremont community up and running. Thank you! #dayoftheteacher

We asked FUSD employees to describe in one word what they want to see in Fremont USD's next superintendent. Here is the result!
Please do not purchase anything from these companies today. We stand in solidarity with essential workers who are striking for reasonable rights and protections in their service to our community.
Thank you to all who attended our first virtual town hall last night! We had a great time putting this event on for the community. We'd like to hear your thoughts as well. We have prepared this feedback form: https://forms.gle/bPBDP2X1EdRzcQza9 And please don't forget to take FUSD's superintendent survey. It closes May 4.... https://www.fremont.k12.ca.us/pf4/cms2/news_themed_display See more
What do you think Fremont students deserve from our next superintendent? FUSD is currently in the process of searching for a new superintendent, and we want to spread interest in this important event! Join us this Wednesday as our panel of educators discusses how the superintendent's role impacts our students. Panelists will share their diverse perspectives and even respond to questions and comments you send to us during the town hall!... To sign up or learn more, visit fudta.org/townhall
"With the support and collaboration of the Public Health Officers in the respective jurisdictions, the County Superintendents of Schools, based on conversations with district leaders, recognized the need to extend the period of school closures and student dismissals through May 1, 2020. If further extensions become necessary, those decisions and announcements will be made at the appropriate time." Read more: https://mailchi.mp/a/press-release-school-closure-extension
Here is what some Fremont educators have to say about being forced to return unnecessarily to their empty--and unsanitized--classrooms and offices.
PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT On behalf of Fremont’s public educators: counselors, librarians, nurses, program specialists, psychologists, speech & language pathologists, substitutes, and librarians Fremont Unified School District has closed all campuses for instruction, effective Monday, March 16, in an effort to mitigate the covid-19 pandemic. However, FUSD has issued the directive to all employees to report to their worksites on March 16 and 17.... The District has not provided meaningful justification for risking the health of thousands of employees and our families. The District has rejected the request of educators to perform their deep cleaning of schools prior to the return of educators to their classrooms and offices. Furthermore, the District has made no effort to explain why their directive outweighs our community’s efforts to slow the pandemic's spread. We should all practice social distancing, which includes limiting our exposure as much as possible to gatherings of people and areas that are high-risk of exposure, including schools, where the coronavirus can linger for an unknown number of days. FUDTA believes that acting in the safest interest of our educators during this pandemic requires limiting on-site work time to that which is deemed necessary by the educator in order to meet the needs of students.
Because educators prioritize the safety of our students, FUDTA is doing everything we can to collaborate with FUSD regarding the developing coronavirus. Disappointingly, FUSD management has canceled the district Safety Committee meeting scheduled for this evening. In response, FUDTA is demanding to negotiate with FUSD on the subject of safety and protection at school sites. It is unacceptable during a time of heightened awareness and concern from the public that the district is not providing a venue for stakeholders to advise district management of the many perspectives on this issue.
Election Day! A strong democracy requires strong, public education. When you vote tomorrow, please vote to strengthen Fremont's public schools! FUDTA recommends:... YES on Measure L (fund Fremont public schools) YES on Measure C (fund childhood education & health) YES on Prop 13 (fund school facility repairs/modernization) See more
At American High School, there are 695 freshmen trying to navigate high school. Freshman year is a difficult period of life for children, but many students find success through support, guidance, and mentorship from educators. Unfortunately, there are many freshmen at American High School who are experiencing classes in their freshmen year without a permanent, properly credentialed teacher. Fremont students deserve properly credentialed teachers who will be a consistent presence in the academic and social development of students. Join us TOMORROW, February 25, from 6-7 PM at American High School for our Fremont Education Town Hall to share with us how you think #FremontStudentsDeserveBetter RSVP here: https://forms.gle/HQoZUDe3TioDCHR68
