Thanks to Foster City Villagers for making Isabelle Burge's 102nd Birthday a huge success. Isabelle is our role model and inspiration. Isabelle was born in Kansas in 1918. She and her husband spent 80 years together, dancing and having grand adventures throughout the country. To this day, she still wears heels and stands up straight and tall. When her husband passed away 4 years ago, she joined Foster City Village and loves all the friends she has made and all the activit...ies. At 100 years, Isabelle also published her first children's book. Entitled, "How Mr. Rat Got His Cheese" it is written in rhyme is a delightful story and a learning lesson for kids. In honor of Isabelle's birthday, Foster City Village awarded Isabelle with a Lifetime Membership in Foster City Village. First awardee to achieve this status. And, certainly well deserved. COVID safe, attendees included her friend of over 50 years, Evelyn Bender, and Villagers Jeff & Phyllis Brown, Edd McKibben, Bob Lahl, Patricia Maxwell and Marlene & Richard Hopper who all sang Happy Birthday to Isabelle in her driveway.

Virtual Town Hall Meeting - San Mateo County's Age Friendly Community Initiative San Mateo County Supervisor David Canepa will be hosting a virtual Town Hall meeting about the growing number of cities in the County including Foster City that have launched Age Friendly Community (AFC) initiatives over the last two years. It will take place this Thursday, November 12th, 5:30pm to 7:00pm Supervisor David Canepa will start things off by saying a few words and then Anabel Pelham,... Ph.D., the Founder and Director of the Center for Age Friendly Excellence, will provide an overview on the potential value of Age Friendly Communities. Foster City Village Board Member Patricia Player Maxwell has agreed to provide an overview on behalf of Foster City's AFC Task Force. Calling all Volunteers!! We All Benefit from Better Social Connections!! WE CARE Program Foster City Village has a program under which we reach out to those who might benefit from regular check-in calls. 'Care Calls' build meaningful, one-to-one connections through compassionate, caring conversation, benefitting both parties alike. Shelter-In-Place is hard on most of us, especially those who live alone and are isolated by COVID-19, so, at this time, we are looking to expand... the program. We are seeking an additional Program Coordinator and we need more volunteers to make friendly ‘Care Calls’. WE CARE 'Loaner Tablet’ Pilot Project WE CARE Program is now testing a pilot project by providing a few ‘loaner’ tablets to those who (a) do not have the technology, (b) are open to using it, and (c) would provide feedback regarding their experience. Want to learn a new technology? Want to be a ‘tablet trainer’ volunteer? Support and training will be provided.
