I made a HUGE mistake and I had forever RUINED MY VOICE ... or at least that's what I thought at that time. I remember it so clearly. It was six months into my... training at the music school in Los Angeles and I was on the phone with my mom. BAWLING MY EYES OUT! I kept telling her how I should have never auditioned for this damn school and I hate it. No, no I wasn't home sick! I WAS IN FEAR! I was at the point in my grueling training where my voice was changing ... but not for the better in my opinion! I could no long push the BIG BELTING notes out for all the songs I loved. My voice would simply crack and shake and go out of pitch. And yet at the same time I couldn't get a handle of the new MIXED VOICE approach so when I would try it would come out strained and thin. I didn't realise it but.. I WAS AT A CROSS ROADS I could either quit school and go back to my old way of singing and HOPE that it would come back over time or I could DIVE IN DEEP into my training and simply TRUST that everythig would by corrected in time. You guessed it! I DOVE IN!! It was only a month later into my training when it suddenly clicked. I had that " OH! I see what's working!" moment From there on it was smooth sailing But what if I had chosen different??? What if I had been too scared to sound bad and had gone back to my old ways?? I wonder what my voice would sound like TODAY? WHAT ARE YOU CHOOSING TO DO?? Are you following the fear of: What if I sound bad? What if it doesn't work? What if I'm never good? or are you DIVING IN DEEP?! Life is short! ( yea yea I know that's over said, but it true!!) Make mistakes! Try new things! ...and most of all WELCOME THE FEELING OF IMPERFECTION! It means you're allowing yourself to evolve So, if you know anyone who's has a beautiful voice inside but being held back by fear then SHARE this with them.
