In October 2011, three year old Monty began vomiting and losing balance. His mom took him to the emergency room, where doctors found a golf-ball sized tumor in his brain that was blocking fluid from draining, putting pressure on the brain. Neurosurgery was scheduled for Halloween morning and, after four hours, the whole tumor was removed. Lab work proved it was a malignant tumor called Medulloblastoma. Monty had another surgery to place a shunt to help drain fluid from his br...ain. After completing the first four months of chemo, tests have shown that the cancer is now attacking Monty’s spine and brain. Monty is now receiving intense treatment in a fight for his life. Monty’s sister, Sadie, celebrated her 6th birthday in February. Veronica Gonzalez of KV Cakes in San Diego, CA created an adorable princess castle to give Sadie an Icing Smile. Monty celebrated his 4th birthday in March and Laurie O’Brien of For the Love of Cake in Escondido, CA created a fabulous pirate ship cake to give Monty a big Icing Smile.
