Today we are welcoming to new @farmersfriendllc caterpillar tunnels to the farm. In addition to our funky farm made tunnels these will help to protect some of our winter greens. We like to put the tunnels up over beds that are already planted since most of the greens that we are protecting get planted in a time when the tunnels are not needed. This way we can get the tunnels planted out and then find time once it cools off and our workload is a little less to install #foothillroots #seasonextension #placergrown #70now30inthemorning

Happy happy Farmcrew Friday! Our next crew member just packed in from Canton, Connecticut. She’s our avid climber, Hannah! She stands in front of the Hannah Hut because it’s her purple creekside pad where she looks out at the view of the flower fields while the cats visit her. What’s your sign? Libra What is your birdsonality? Seagull because I’m food driven. What is your skill trade? Massages and I cook a lot. ... What are you listening to? A lot of the Call me by your name soundtrack because this area reminds me a lot of the Italian countryside in the movie. Also a podcast I really like called Home Cooking by Samin Nosrat. Do you know your ASMR trigger? I really like shuffling through the post it notes. I used to go to sleep to post it note ASMR. What brought you to Foothill Roots Farm? I wanted to farm, and I farmed throughout Connecticut and I always wanted to be on a farm and see the process of things growing and be involved in it. So I thought the best way I could do it was to live on the farm I was working on. So I found foothill roots through my college roommate. What did you have for dinner last night? We had guacamole made my Molly and carnitas made by Pat & Di and beans made by Jamie. Just basically tacos, you know the deal. What is your favorite farm memory? I think killing the bird with the weedwhacker and eating the eggs! By the way, she wanted to clarify with the audience that a vegetarian and her diet consists only of vegetables. Thank you thank you thank you Farmer Hannah!
