Went out to a house the other day on an ant call. The homeowner had sawdust falling from the ceiling. She was on service with one of the big companies that come up here from Roseville. They had been trying, unsuccessfully, to get rid of her ant problem for months but couldn't even find the ant trail. I knew from her description she had Velvety Tree Ants chewing on her house. When I arrived, she took me upstairs to a room with a high vaulted ceiling. She said the other company... wouldn't use ladders so they couldn't get up to where the ants were active. They had tried to spray the ants from below but only managed to leave water marks on the beam. A glance out the window showed me a coax cable running from way up in a very tall pine tree over to the house. Looking out the window up to the exterior portion of the overhead beam, I could see the ants coming off the coax cable onto the beam just outside of where we were standing. It took every bit of my 16' telescoping ladder to get up to that beam where I applied the proper product along the beam and tongue & groove ceiling and then an exterior product on the outside portion of the beam. The end result? The customer no longer has sawdust falling from her ceiling and she has better pest control service on both her house and her mom's house. Not all pest control companies offer the same level of service. Very few use ladders and almost none will go up on the roof and sometimes that's where the bugs are. Did an installation of bird spikes on a house this afternoon. There were pigeons nesting under the eaves of a couple of dormers and on a small overhang on the side of the house. That overhang was ~40' off the ground. The customer said that one of the other local pest control companies told her that no one up here does this. Foothill Pest Control does. Shout out to Grass Valley Tire. On Monday, while driving home in my work truck, I experienced a tread separation on one of my POS, Made In China, OE Goodyear Wrangler HP tires with less than 20k miles on them. Ended up with a giant bulge in the tread. I called GV Tire a little before 5:00 and they got me an appt for 3:00 Tuesday to install BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2s. (2 sizes up ) I got to their shop a little early, they took my truck in right away and had me back ...on the road in less than an hour.
