WARNING FOR WORMCRAFTERS - Side effects may include growing emotionally attached to your worms and in severe cases you may find yourself saving the best pieces of your food for your worms. Interested in starting your own mini-worm farm? Purchase our Worm Crafters kit which includes a bin, worms, bedding, and access to our Worm Crafter Library, where you can learn everything about worms and worm composting. We've added a new Worm Crafte...rs location in Clairemont Mesa. This neighborhood also has access to Bucket Drops on Tuesdays (starting today) from 4-6pm! For more information on the how to start your worm crafting journey go to the Worm Crafters page on our website under Learn About Matthew Suárez @Matingas_Photography #worms #vermicompost #compost #bucketdrop #food2soil #homecompost #homecomposter #clairemontmesa #tecolotecanyon See more

Join us in watching this compostable @PELACase phone case slowly being consumed by our worms. On March 27th, one of our members brought this into the @theovgg compost hub, where we are experimenting with various compostables. Stay tuned for progress pics! Have an odd compostable you'd like us to try in our piles? Bring your compostable to Ocean View Growing Grounds during hub hours (9-11AM on Saturdays) and we will add it to our bucket of experimental comp...ostables. **PLEASE don't add it to your drop-off bin! **PLEASE don't take it to any other hub. Experimental batches are only built at Ocean View Growing Grounds. #compostables #CarbonSequestration #circulareconomy #climateaction #educationiskey #powertothepeople #sandiegosustainable #SocialEnterprise #sustainability #ecofriendly #earth @PELACase #pelacase See more

Spring camping trips are upon us! With flower blooms just weeks away and night slowly warming up, you might be packing your bags to go camping. Don't forget your Food2Soil food scrap bucket while you're at it- take it with you to keep your scraps while you're kickin' it in mother nature. Although foodscraps will decompose anywhere, pack out your scraps to be sure not to interfere with the wildlife. Bonus tip: Scrap buckets double as a place to sit while yo...u tend to your campfire. NOTE : San Carlos will be closed for bucket drops this week on April 18th. See comment for all other locations and hours open for bucket drops. #circularliving #ecofriendly #educationiskey #greenliving #powertothepeople #sustainability #SustainableLiving #symbiosis #local #zerowaste #collective #zerowasteliving #campinghacks #springtime #JoshuaTree #carcamping See more

In the photo: Mulch City, USA! Relationships can be complicated. With compost, it is the relationship between greens and browns, nitrogen and carbon. For our carbon source at Food2Soil, we use mulch from landscaping companies around San Diego. These companies chip the trees they remove, pack their trucks full, and drop it off to us at Food2Soil. We are grateful for the symbiotic relationship we have with local arborists Robin Hilton Lan...d and Tree Company (on yelp), @leafit2ustreeservice, @coastaltreecare and @chipdrop through whom we are able to get a reliable, high quality supply of mulch that our microorganism friends loooove and thrive on! Posing as king of mulch is Nat Giraud. Thankyou Jill Giraud for capturing the moment and for composting for the Point Loma community #CarbonSequestration #circulareconomy #climateaction #educationiskey #powertothepeople #sandiegosustainable #SocialEnterprise #sustainability #ecofriendly #earth #circularliving #ecofriendly #greenliving #powertothepeople #sustainability #SustainableLiving #symbiosis #local #zerowaste #collective #zerowasteliving #pointloma #chipdrop See more

Composting is an active co-creation, and is best as a family/friendly affair Regardless of one's age, it's essential for everyone to be cognizant of how we create, consume, discard anything and everything. This practice provides the perfect insight and opportunity to develop a greater level of awareness of how our actions as individuals impact our shared environment... Thus, will continue to advocate for compost education and improved waste management infrastructure and policy, beginning internally, and evolving outward Keep Growing -F2S : @mgusain05 See more

Fun fact! A banana peel decomposes in a compoat pile in 2-4 weeks. Not so fun fact! In landfills, banana peels, and all other foodscraps rotting in garbage bags, take at least 20 years to decompose and return to the earth... Here with Food2Soil, our focus is composting, the practice of transforming foodscraps into soil, to which we can then utilize to nourish our plants ... #sandiego92116 #SanDiego92101 #SanDiego92105 #SanDiego92103 #SanDiego92103 #sandiego92119 #sandiego92113 #sandiego92114 #SanDiego92116 #SanDiego92109 #SanDiego92121 #SanDiego92131
