LOS ANGELES At a press conference today, DEA Acting Administrator Timothy J. Shea and Los Angeles Field Division Special Agent in Charge Bill Bodner announced... the seizure of 893 pounds of cocaine, 13 pounds of heroin, and 2,224 pounds of crystal methamphetamine, which is the largest domestic seizure of crystal methamphetamine in DEA history. In June 2020, the Los Angeles Field Division of a DEA task-force which Fontana PD narcotics detectives belong to began investigating a large-scale drug trafficking organization (DTO) with ties to the Sinaloa Cartel involved in the transportation and delivery of large quantities of cocaine and crystal methamphetamine. During the investigation, agents identified a Southern California-based narcotics courier/stash house manager along with multiple locations and vehicles associated with the courier and the DTO. On October 2, 2020, through investigative means, agents and Fontana Police Department investigators established surveillance on the courier’s residence. During surveillance, Fontana Police Department investigators observed the target and a secondary associate load two duffle bags into a vehicle and leave the location. The courier target and the associate ultimately met with a third associate at a Sam’s Club parking lot in the city of Moreno Valley where they unloaded and delivered the two duffle bags to the third associate. During that time, investigators detained the courier target and the two other associates in the parking lot for questioning and they were later released. Based upon the investigation and locations previously identified, a Fontana PD Task-force officer authored state search warrants for multiple locations, including the courier target’s residence and a narcotics stash house within the city of Perris. Fontana PD Narcotics Unit, Gang Unit, and Rapid Response Team executed multiple search warrants. Officers located approximately 25 duffle bags within the garage of the residence containing approximately 406 kilograms of cocaine, six kilograms of heroin, and 650 pounds of crystal methamphetamine. Additionally, during a search of the narcotics stash house in Perris, agents located approximately 1,600 pounds of crystal methamphetamine. This is an ongoing investigation. The largest DEA domestic seizure of methamphetamine in history is a significant blow to the cartels, but more importantly it is a gigantic victory for communities throughout Southern California and the United States who have had to deal with the torrent of methamphetamine coming into their neighborhoods, said Acting Administrator Shea. We continue to work with our state and local partners to attack drug trafficking at all levels and this seizure sends a clear message that we mean business. With an estimated wholesale value of these narcotics at 19.5 million dollars and an estimated street value of 58 million dollars, these drug trafficking organizations will be impacted in their day to day operations. Great job to our federal partners and local agencies who participate in these task forces to halt the flow of illegal narcotics entering our communities. @fontanapd #fontanapd #vision4safety City of Fontana, CA - City Government

For several years now we have partnered with a local elementary school to read books to their children about America in remembrance of 9/11. The school’s Patri...ot’s Day was an event our staff looked forward to each year. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we were unable to read to the children in person this year. We decided to continue with a virtual version of Patriots Day to continue with this tradition and share the event with everyone. We hope you enjoy watching Officer Mark Wyrick and K9 Goose reading America The Beautiful in remembrance of 9/11. Most of us are parents and we understand the struggles in this virtual learning world. We hope these videos will bring some joy to your children and virtual classrooms. Thank you to our teachers and parents. We will always remember our first responders and the loved ones lost on 9/11. This book will make a wonderful addition to your home or classroom. The Fontana Police Department has implemented Code Red, a high-speed emergency/community notification solution provided by OnSolve to help keep residents and bu...sinesses informed with important information that may immediately impact their safety. The City will be conducting a citywide test of the system and we’re suggesting you subscribe to the service before the test. By subscribing you will be able to list e-mails and additional phone numbers where you would like to receive emergency alerts. Please visit www.fontana.org for more information about Code Red and how to sign up. #fontanapd @fontanapd Fontana See more

Coltin (K9 Wyatt's pen pal) received another box from the Fontana Police Department in California today. He was so excited. Thank you @fontanapolicedepartment and Ofc Guerrero for your kindness to Coltin. Colt also hopes that K9 Wyatt is getting stronger and feeling good.

K9 Wyatt is back to work - K9 Wyatt was injured by a suspect, who repeatedly struck him in the face with a crowbar back in May. We had a chance to watch Wyatt... train with his handler, Officer Mutter as they went through a few obstacles and scenarios. We were flooded with inquiries when people heard about Wyatt’s injuries. They wanted to know how he was doing. One inquiry was from 7-year-old, Coltin from Nebraska. Coltin mailed a card and new chew toy to Wyatt to show his support. @fontanapd #fontanapd #vision4safety See more

I am a proud public servant; I am proud to be a cop. There is something special about law enforcement, I am not suggesting it is the only special job, but it is special. If you call 9-1-1, a trained professional will answer your call 24 hours a day and quickly send help. Help will be sent regardless of your political affiliation, socioeconomic status, gender, sexual preference, skin color, or religion. We are entirely uninterested in those things that demand so much debate on... social media and non-stop news coverage; we just go and help. Always. The help will come in the form of a man or woman, driving a distinctly marked car and wearing the uniform and badge of our city. There is a good chance you have never met that person before, and they likely have not met you. But they go anyway, to shepherd you through your time of crisis. They willingly put themselves between you and danger; willing to sacrifice themselves if that is what it takes to keep you and your family safe. Friends, that is as close to the definition of special that you can get. All video footage and 911 calls, were obtained from actual Fontana PD events. @FontanaPD #FontanaPD #Policeman

Samson @k9samson was born in the Czech Republic in July of 2009, purchased and imported to Adlerhorst Kennels in Riverside where the Fontana Police K9 Pals pu...rchased and donated him to the Fontana Police Department. After certification, Samson served the Fontana citizens and his four handlers for nearly 8 years, one of the longest serving police K9s in the history of the K9 unit. Samson was certified as an apprehension, narcotics and gun detection K9. During his service, Samson was credited with approximately 73 apprehensions, the seizure of approximately 1 ton of narcotics and over $2.5 million dollars in U.S. currency, and saved an estimated 7,500-man hours with his olfactory ability. - Samson retired in August of 2018 where he lived with his final handler enjoying long walks, playing with the numerous toys gifted to him during his retirement party, visiting elementary school students performing demonstrations, swimming in his pool at home and enjoying the Colorado river! He made occasional visits to the police department & K9 trainings to visit his human & K9 colleagues whom he never forgot. - Sadly, in February of 2020, Samson had emergency surgery where it was discovered he had two cancerous tumors on his spleen, all of which were removed. He made a brief recovery; however, on April 2nd, 2020, his handler made the very emotional and difficult decision to let Samson rest in peace. Thank you to all the men & women of the Fontana Police Department with whom he interacted and made a positive impact on his long and successful career, especially his former handlers, trainers and the members of the Fontana Police K9 Pals. - Samson will be sorely missed. It was my honor to have been his final partner. R.I.P. K9 Samson Officer R. Fontana Police K9 Pals supporting the Palm Springs Police Officer's Association at their Running From The Law memorial run this morning. The event honors Palm Springs PD officers Lesley Zerebny and Gil Vega who were killed in the line of duty on 10/08/2016. The amount of support shown today is a reminder to us all that we are one community united. From civilians to officers, together we represent a great community knowing that some gave their lives to protect it. May God bless us all.
