Fogline Farm 07.06.2021

We’ve officially doubled production since the first few weeks of the pandemic. 1200 baby chicks arrived yesterday (and every week onwards). What a wild year. And it’s all because of the support from you all!! Thank you so much for supporting local, small businesses, and eating well!

Google Maps updated their photos for the first time in years. The new coops can finally be seen from space. Unfortunately they seem to only take them in late summer but you can still see their daily moves. Although the grass is brown, it’s rooted, and the chickens are adding fertilizer and getting bugs, fresh air, sun, and fresh ground.

Finally rented the big truck to collaborate with @rootdownfarm. Feels so good to share and work with friends and neighbors.

Hey everyone. The farm is safe. The family is safe. Our little community up here is all feeling really positive about the situation. Lots of smoldering still, but fire crews from all over the west coast are here keeping an eye out. Thank you! It’s really not close to being over, but we’re all taking a breath. I hiked into Calfire basecamp in Scott’s Valley yesterday and found the top brass and pleaded my case and have been able to gain access for the time being. Thanks for all the continued support and love. It wouldn’t be possible without @corvusfarm @pie_ranch @brisaranch @swantonpacificranch @anonuevosp @ranchosiempreverde. And many others. We’ll all be forever bonded and look forward to the regrowth and rebuild.

Today was the most emotional yet. Most intense. Our farm is very fortunate due to its location on a peninsula. But just a stones throw away on the other side of Hwy 1 is a whole different story. This morning I passed by my farm because I knew it was safe and wanted to check on my neighbors and I came upon this. This house was built in 1868. It housed the foundation of all of @pie_ranch most amazing work. I lived here in 2008. Here I fell in love with raising livestock on the... coast. I fell in love with my wife here and made the decision to start my farming career here. This will go down as the one of the saddest days of my life. I hope I can continue to help my neighbors and serve my community and be there for my family. Much love to all the farmers in the north coast and Pescadero region. Please reach out if there’s anything I can do to help. And thanks to everyone else for the love and support. See more

The fire has not crossed the Highway and generators are gassed up. Animals are safe. Fire is mostly smoldering. Let’s hope the wind cooperates today. Thanks for the all the support and well wishes.

Well, the humans of Fogline Farm and @corvusfarm are safe. We can only hope this doesn’t cross Hwy 1 and the chickens make it through. This was the last shot before being evacuated at 5 this afternoon.
