Focused Touch will be re-opening February 15th with extremely limited availability and priority to repeat and regular customers. I am not accepting new clients at this time. Massage therapy has received clearance to resume business June 19th. Focused Touch Massage will remain temporarily closed until further notice. Below is an open letter with my thoughts on the issue. Hey everyone! First and foremost, I miss all of you and hope no one is in too much pain. I know I could use a massage right now , so I’m sure you are all on the same page as me. ... Secondly, I would like to speak on the current clearance massage therapy has received from the state and explain my decision behind keeping the studio temporarily closed. I do not believe it is safe for me to open my practice back up at this time. COVID19 cases have been continuously spiking in California , and placer county specifically has seen a dramatic increase in cases since the soft reopening began with restaurants, bars , spas etc. These are not the kind of numbers I feel comfortable gambling with, especially when it comes down to the health of my clients and community. But what about protective gear? Can’t you sterilize things? What if I wear a mask? Yes, these things can help reduce the spread of the disease and I have already implemented extra sterilization techniques at the office. I even bought a fancy UV sterilizer and an air purifier. Yay! But ultimately I cannot monitor what my clients are doing in their time. I know that everyone has responded to this disaster in their own way and not everyone followed the same protocols. All it takes is one asymptomatic client (or therapist) to spread the virus to my entire practice and community. My job is truly unique in the sense that I cannot provide a touch-less service, even if I enforce and follow every OSHA and CDC standard under the sun. The reality of the situation is that massage therapy and many other services will remain high risk throughout this pandemic and we will have to find ways to asses our risk factor, cope and move forward. As of now it’s just too high risk for me to feel comfortable. I would rather wait a few more weeks or even months when the case numbers in our county have declined and we have more information on what is working and what is not, than open at the time of the highest spike in cases in our area. I appreciate your patience! I know this is not easy for anyone. We will get through this together, one mask at a time :) *******all expiration dates on previously purchased packages have been extended, as COVID19 does not have a predictable end date.*******

This photo was taken halfway through a 90 minute session after working exclusively on the left side. Look at the difference!! I used a combination of #triggerpoint therapy, #swedishmassage, #myofascialrelease and #stretching to bring the shoulders back down to a comfortable position. I make sure to work both sides of the body separately before working them together, as each side usually has it’s own set of issues. We got the right side down by the end of the session as well!
