This week we are going to be continuing the series titled, "Over my Dead Body: What Jesus Cared About After He Died." We all have a gap between what we believe and what we experience in our lives. In your faith, what do you struggle with most? I believe God loves me but I don’t feel it. I know God is with me but I don’t see it. I should be further along in my faith than I am. These statements play into your sense of shame, which can be paralyzing.... Join us this week as we look at John 21:1-14 and explore how Jesus frees us from toxic guilt and shame.

This past Sunday, Pastor Matt addressed what it looks like to live as citizens of heaven in a culture marked by political hostility and divisiveness. Ultimately, when we seek to be faithful to God and His call upon our lives, we step into our identity as dual citizens of Heaven and Earth. So what is God calling us to do? First, we are called to embody the character and priorities of Jesus. As members of God’s family, we are called to demonstrate the character and prioriti...es of Jesus Christ through our words and deeds. Practically, this means that our primary calling is to be faithful to Jesus, regardless of the outcome of this election. Second, we are called to treat all people with dignity. Jesus’ presence had a healing and transformational impact on the people that He came in contact with. As we grow and seek to be more like Him, our lives can be a gift and blessing to others as well. Practically, we are called to love our neighbors including our enemies, those who think differently than we do, and even those who mistreat us. By acknowledging that our perspective is limited, we open our hearts to growth and transformation as members of God's kingdom. Third, we are called to put our hope in Jesus and His Kingdom. He is the savior who is worthy of our trust and hope. We are to receive the hope and healing of Jesus and to be that for each other. As God’s people, we are marked by compassion, empathy, care, curiosity, a desire to understand each other’s unique voices and perspectives. Our calling is to be a prayerful people humbly dependent on God, seeking to follow the leadership of the Holy Spirit.
