Stretch Those Tension Headaches Away Do you suffer from tension headaches? After a long day in front of the computer it is fairly common to develop a headache especially if your workstation is not properly set up. Additionally, checking email and sending text messages automatically causes the head to be in a misaligned Anterior Head Syndrome position. This is a recipe for tension headaches as well as other problems. Start by correcting posture... Before you get started with these simple stretches, make sure you have your work area set up so you can work with your head in a neutral position. We would be happy to show you how you should be sitting while at your workstation. What you want to avoid is a condition called anterior head carriage which is simply sitting or standing with your head in a forward position. Sit tall with your ears over your shoulders to reduce the strain on your neck. Even if you work on the run, be aware of the tilt of your head when checking your phone or tablet. It may only be for a few minutes each time but cumulatively it can account for several hours of strain on your cervical spine.

Salutogenesis literally means: that which gives birth to health. We all want to be healthy and health is on our minds now more than ever. How do we achieve that? Our traditional health system focuses on a pathogenic approach: How to prevent or treat disease or illness. ... But the opposite, more ideal approach is salutogenesis. Salutogenesis versus Pathogenesis This approach considers how health is created and maintained. Pathos means suffering, so pathogenesis is the birth of suffering. Many health professions have this term incorporated into their name. For example, conventional medicine is allopathy. Even alternative medicines like homeopathy have pathos in their names. How do these two approaches affect us? Salutogenesis stems from the belief in a friendly universe, one that is positive and works and provides for the greater good. This gives a sense of coherence--confidence that one's environment is predictable and that things will work out as well as can reasonably be expected. Pathogenesis stems from a belief in a hostile universe, where we assume the worst of people and circumstances. However, there are many simple things you can grow, even if you do not know what you are doing or if you have no backyard. Grow sprouts on your counter.
