PLEASE FORWARD THIS TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE..... The IRS continues to warn consumers to guard against scam phone calls from thieves intent on stealing their money or their identity. Criminals pose as the IRS to trick victims out of their money or personal information. Scammers make unsolicited calls. Thieves call taxpayers claiming to be IRS officials. They demand that the victim pay a bogus tax bill. They con the victim into sending cash, usually through a prepaid de...bit card or wire transfer. They may also leave urgent callback requests. THEY WILL TRY TO SCARE YOU BY SAYING: "We have found that there was fraud and misconduct on your tax return, which you are hiding from the federal government, The matter at hand is extremely time sensitive and urgent." "This needs to be rectify immediately, otherwise a warrant for your arrest will be issued and all of your bank accounts will be levied." They're just trying to create urgency and a fear factor. THE IRS WILL NOT: **Call you to demand immediate payment. The IRS will not call you if you owe taxes without first sending you a bill in the mail. **Demand that you pay taxes and not allow you to question or appeal the amount you owe. **Require that you pay your taxes a certain way. For instance, require that you pay with a prepaid debit card. **Ask for your credit or debit card numbers over the phone. **Threaten to bring in police or other agencies to arrest you for not paying. DO NOT GIVE OUT ANY INFORMATION. HANG IUP IMMEDIATELY!! If you get a phone call from someone claiming to be from the IRS and asking for money, here’s what you should do: If you know you owe taxes or think you might owe, call the IRS at 1.800.829.1040. The IRS workers can help you with a payment issue. If you know you don’t owe taxes or have no reason to believe that you do, report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) at 1.800.366.4484 or at www.tigta.gov. WE SINCERELY HOPE THIS HELPS IN PUTTING A STOP TO THIS. Thank you for taking the time to read this and to those for sharing. This could happen to one of your relatives who, out of fear will fall for this SCAM. Let's work together to shut them down.
