Last Month, www.discgolf.movie caught up with one hundred year old Don Shinn, who just set the WFDF World Distance record for a centenarian after playing in a tournament. In 1987 Ann Killion wrote an article for Sports Illustrated about the US Open, a competition of overall flying disc events. One of which was, of course, Disc Golf. We're excited to announce that we got a chance to talk with Ann this week for the documentary - and see what she thinks of the sport now, 33 years later! Ann Killion is an American sports journalist and author. She has written for Sports Illustrated, the San Francisco Chronicle, Comcast Sportsnet, the San Jose Mercury News, and the Los Angeles Times. Back in 2011, the PDGA magazine ran an article shedding light on a great course in Sweden called Järva Disc Golf Park, and an issue that threatened it's existence. The Save Järva campaign had begun. In 2019 and indeed today, Jarva's future is very much still in question. I wasn't setting out to tell this story when I visited Sweden and Finland for the documentary, but many times stories just emerge if you're listening. This is one of those times. Jonas Lof was a Swedeish frisbee pioneer in the mid 1980's. Turns out, he and his brother Mats designed Jarva. #SaveJärva Järva DiscGolfPark

The course is one of the oldie's - from the early eighties, Steady Ed Days. On any given day there -still- you just might see legends and pioneers of the game like Hall of Famer Annie Kreml, Peter Sontag, Roger Cansler or Scott Riley.
