Good morning! It's a beautiful Monday. The word for today is "fulfilled." The Word of God was, is, and will always be fulfilled. Jesus' ministry was fulfilled. The purpose of God is fulfilled. Is your calling from God being fulfilled? Is the church being fulfilled? Luke 22:1-23

The Old Gospel Preacher is hungry for bread.

Majestic Monday as I look out the window and see the frost on the ground and feel the warmth of the heater. The word for today is "bread." I love bread: homemade bread my Mom used to make, sour dough bread in San Francisco, fresh biscuits from Cracker Barrel, and sopa pia's. But man shall not live on bread alone but on every word from God. EVERY word. God is the author of the Bible. Just because it is not in the four gospels doesn't mean it is not from God. But I still love bread. Matthew 4:1-25

The Old Gospel Preacher is strengthened.

On the road again. A good friend from Phoenix went to her heavenly home Wednesday. I'm leaving today to speak at her memorial. Praise God the weather cleared up. The word for today is "strengthened." Some of us lift weights and exercise to strengthen our bodies. Some of us like to express our opinion so we study our point of view so we can strengthen our argument. Paul tells us to be strengthened in the grace of God. Once we are strengthened live it out. Let others see Jesus in you. Second Timothy 2:1-the end of the chapter.

Sunday morning and it snowed last night and now we have fog. Everything is white. Though my sins be as scarlet they shall be as white as snow. This old song has applied meaning today. The word for today is "baptize." Literally the word means to immerse. It is an act of obedience. It is a righteous act. It is symbolic of washing our sins away. It is a sign of identification. It is a commitment. It is an act of worship. It is a sermon on Christ's death, burial, and resurrection. It portrays your death to self and new life in Christ. It is a requirement for church membership. It is the right thing to do. And it is a church ordinance. Matthew 3:1-17

The Old Gospel Preacher wants a boat.

It's raining hard. I wish I would have bought a boat instead of an RV to live in. The word for today is "convince." There are a lot of people trying to convince us one way and another. Be careful how you listen and to whom you listen. Don't call names because someone was convinced to believe something else. I am convinced that God will take care of me. Second Timothy 1:1-18

The Old Gospel Preacher and Disney Land.

Can you get too busy when there is nothing to do? That's the thought for today. The word for today is "contentment ." Paul tells us it is a great gain. Disney Land had a flag 53 years ago that represented the State of Contentment. When we identified our state flag no one recognized this one. Maybe because so few people have been there. I like the old song "I am satisfied." Are you? First Timothy 6:1-21

Do titles matter? The word for today is "pastor." They might be called bishop, overseer, elder, priest, father, minister, or brother but it's what they do that matters. This has been "pastor appreciation month." I hope you have shown appreciation to your pastor. It's not too late. First Timothy 5:1-25

The Old Gospel Preacher is in training

Today is the 300th day of 2020. We've seen a lot of changes and probably will see more before the year is over. But one thing will not change and that is God's Word. The word for today is "train." Not one on railroad tracks but living out a discipline. It may be too late for me to train my body but it is not too late to follow the biblical mandate to train myself for godliness. Why wait? First Timothy 4:1-16
