#ElDoradoFireUpdate EL DORADO FIRE REMAINS IN SAME GENERAL AREA, STILL NOT AN IMMINENT THREAT TO BIG BEAR AT THIS TIME The El Dorado Fire has remained in the s...ame general area over the last 24 hours, and still (thankfully) does not pose an imminent threat to Big Bear Lake at this time. City officials remain in close contact with Fire officials, continue to monitor the threat to Big Bear Lake, and will adjust our guidance for our community if / when necessary due to changing conditions. Fire personnel report that the fire burned at low-intensity last night, and has enabled crews to continue work on containment strategies aimed at preventing the fire from crossing SR 38. The fire has not crossed SR 38, and the northern edge of the fire is still currently burning just south of SR 38 and just east of Angelus Oaks near San Bernardino Mountain. The fire is currently burning approximately 6 miles (as the crow flies) due south of Boulder Bay and City Hall. Much of the terrain between the El Dorado Fire and the City of Big Bear Lake is steep and rugged, and SR 38 and the Santa Ana River are key trigger points for future Fire management decisions. IF the El Dorado Fire crosses SR 38, it is possible that an evacuation warning will be issued. IF the fire crosses the Santa Ana River, it is possible that an evacuation order will be issued. Fire personnel are working hard to contain the fire south of SR 38, however, and we remain hopeful they will be able to effectively contain the fire in that area and avoid any more serious threat to Big Bear Lake. EL DORADO FIRE UPDATE MON 9/14 6PM The fire grew by around 2000 acres in the past 24 hours but containment is now up to 53%. Aircraft Request for Tomorrow is 2 ...VLATs (Very Large Air Tankers) and 3 LATS (Large Air Tankers). Air Attack Resources to be on the fire by 9am tomorrow. POWER The Power went out to all of the Big Bear Valley at around 5:20PM Monday evening. Power to many portions of the Big Bear Valley was restored at around 6PM. Several areas within the valley are still without power and BVES is reporting that restoration for those areas should be within 1-2 hours. The cause of the Power Outage is To Be Determined. The new El Dorado Live Scanner is offline due to this outage. Note that some of the Alert WildFire and BBMR Cams are currently down due to the power outage. We will do our best to get these services that are under our control back in service. EVACUATION ORDERS REMAIN UNCHANGED The area east of Bryant Street on Highway 38 REMAINS UNDER AN EVACUATION ORDER. This including Mountain Home, Forest Falls, Angelus Oak, 7 Oaks and Barton Flats / Jenks Lake Area east to Onyx Summit. BIG BEAR RESIDENTS - NO EVACUATION WARNINGS OR ORDERS CURRENTLY IN EFFECT. Pay close attention to Official Social Media Sites for the latest information. NARRATIVE The El Dorado Fire was very active overnight and today. Any residents who have remained in the Angelus Oaks community should leave immediately. Crews will continue to cut firelines, and will be supported by air resources to reduce the momentum of the fire with water and retardant. Ground crews continue constructing a contingency line between Hwy 38 and the 2015 Lake Fire burn scar. The hand line behind Forest Falls continues to hold and firefighters continue patrol and mop up efforts. Firefighters remain in position to provide structure protection with direct hose lines while increasing defensible space. Fire crews continue working to extend the fire line along Mill Creek from Vivian Creek to last month’s Apple Fire scar. STATS Acres: 16,490 Containment: 53% Personnel: 1,319 Injuries: 10 Evacuated: 3,467 Structures threatened: 16,117 [images attached - USFS, Inciweb, 564Photo, ValleyFirePhoto]
