In a small ceremony on April 26, 2021, Chief Salvador Raygoza welcomed newly sworn reserve officers: - Andres Lopez - Cody Ward - Jarred Baxter... - Kevin Guillum In addition, to the swearing in of 4 new officers, Officer Jonathan Gonzales who joined the department as a reserve, in 2018, was promoted to full time. Denim Day is April 28th, 2021 Sexual Assault Awareness Month is in April. For the past 22 years, California Rape Crisis Centers continues to support the Denim Day campaign on a Wednesday in April in honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month.... The campaign was originally triggered by a ruling by the Italian Supreme Court where a rape conviction was overturned because the justices felt since the victim was wearing tight jeans she must have helped her rapist remove her jeans, thereby implying consent. The following day, the women in the Italian Parliament came to work wearing jeans in solidarity with the victim. Since the, wearing jeans on Denim Day has become a symbol of protest against erroneous and destructive attitudes about sexual assault. Durante los últimos 22 años, los Centros de Crisis de Violación de California continúan apoyando la campaña Denim Day un miércoles de abril en honor al Mes de Concientización sobre el Asalto Sexual. La campaña fue desencadenada originalmente por un fallo de la Corte Suprema de Italia donde se anuló una condena por violación porque los jueces sintieron que, dado que la víctima vestía jeans ajustados, ella debió haber ayudado a su violador a quitarse los jeans, lo que implicaba su consentimiento. Al día siguiente, las mujeres del Parlamento italiano llegaron a trabajar vistiendo jeans en solidaridad con la víctima. Desde entonces, usar jeans en el Día del Denim se ha convertido en un símbolo de protesta contra las actitudes erróneas y destructivas sobre la agresión sexual. This week is Dispatcher Appreciation Week. Our dispatchers are the first people you talk to when you call with an emergency. Even though dispatchers can't see what’s happening, they are the eyes and ears of emergency responders. They ensure that the right responders get to an emergency as fast as possible, and who keep officers safe as they help people in crisis. This year, we celebrate Dispatcher Appreciation Week in Firebaugh by recognizing the countless hours and everyday... ways our dispatchers keep our officers and people safe. On behalf of all the officers we thank you! ****** Esta semana es la Semana de agradecimiento al despachador. Nuestros despachadores son las primeras personas con las que habla cuando llama en caso de emergencia. Aunque los despachadores no pueden ver lo que está sucediendo, son los ojos y los oídos de los socorristas. Se aseguran de que los socorristas adecuados lleguen a una emergencia lo más rápido posible y que mantengan a los oficiales seguros mientras ayudan a las personas en crisis. National Autism Awareness begins April 1st and ends April 30th. Come join @firebaughautismparents on April 24th for their 1st Annual Autism Walk. Proceeds from this event will be donated to Bailey's Shines Program and to help with their next Autism event.... Sign ups are at the Firebaugh Senior Center (corner of Thomas Conboy/Clyde Fannon Rd). Registration: $20 adults - $10 for children,...include a t-shirt. This is a 2 mile walk or run your choice, that will begin at Firebaugh City Park (Dunkle Park). Officer Molina and Officer Gonzalez have both signed up and will be participating in the Autism walk,..hope to see you there.

Via Merced CHP - VERY CONCERNING: After responding to a fog-related collision this morning, it is very concerning the number of vehicles without their headlights on. The California Highway Patrol recommends all drivers manually turn on their headlights during foggy conditions to be the most visible. Daytime running lights are usually not sufficient and the auto feature, in regards to headlights, can be unreliable. ... Remember, leave yourself plenty of time in the morning to get to your destination...and slow it down. Be safe everyone.
